Phone2.io is possibly the worst run company I have ever dealt with. I should have read reviews and Reddit threads before signing up with them yesterday. They are the absolute worst support to deal with. Their policies and convoluted and hidden, the support FAQ isn't fully built, and service sucks on top of all that. Support will actively fight you on a refund almost as if it is a game to them. I can not believe they are still in business.

Hi Andrew — we’re very sorry for the trouble you experienced. We can confirm your number has already been ported back out successfully and your refund processed. Please let us know if you’re still having any issues — and thank you for giving us a shot.

DO NOT use this service
DO NOT use this service. This is a total scam. Their 30-day refund policy is bullshit! You MUST have a business EIN to text message (but there is NO MENTION of needing one until after you pay). I selected the $18/mo plan vs the $180/yr ($15/mo) plan but the system processed the $180 for the year. No refunds. No way to text without EIN. False advertising and shady payment system. Very disappointed. Sometimes the app hangs up while I'm on a phone call or entering a pin or account number etc...
Response from Phone2Sep 19, 2025
Hi Darrell — I’m really sorry for the frustration here. Let me clarify a couple of things:
✅ You don’t need an EIN for calling or inbound SMS. That works right away.
❌ Outbound SMS does require EIN-based registration (called 10DLC). This is a federal rule all U.S. carriers now enforce — not something unique to Phone2. Only a few apps are temporarily exempt until the end of 2025.
On the billing side, I see you meant to select the monthly Pro Plan but got billed annually — I’d like to fix that for you. Can you DM us your username or email? We’ll review your account and process the adjustment or refund as needed.
Sorry again your first experience hasn’t been smooth. We’ll make this right.

Easy to use and convenient for those…
It is very IRRITATING that you request me to give you an evaluation in exchange for credits and then when I want to access a code, I cannot see it. Make your app work properly if you want good reviews instead of insulting the clients. I PAID FOR IT.
Response from Phone2Sep 10, 2025
Hi Dan, we’re truly sorry for the frustration this has caused. To clarify, Trustpilot doesn’t show us your account information here, so we can’t look up your case directly. Please email us at [email protected] with your username so we can review your account and fix this for you right away. We absolutely want the app working properly for you, and our team is standing by to help.

Unreliable service, will not honor own refund policy
If you're thinking of using Phone2.IO, I urge you to stop here and reconsider. You probably already considered that there are so many options out there if you want a new phone line. And now consider the type of company this is:
This phone line requires you to use their own app for it to work. Now, I test this app by having friends call me before I use it for business. The app's call receiving is unreliable - I'm missed test calls. The app's call notifications are unreliable - I've had missed calls that showed up but didn't ring. This is separate from calls I just didn't receive at all. And this is not even getting into the quality of the calls, or the SMS, because why would I use something this unreliable as a touch-point for my business? It doesn't make sense. The app is also feature-poor - I can't even set this line to ring differently from my main number.
Suffice to say, I requested a refund. Their return policy says:
30-Day Refund Window
You may request a refund within 30 days of purchase, provided:
You did not use a free trial before purchasing.
The refund request is not due to a refusal to complete TCR registration.
I satisfy both of those, and yet they still won't give me a refund because they claim calls are going through. This service failed reliability tests that I conducted, so how do they know all calls are going through? They just know the calls *that they see* are going through.
Not to mention, the mandatory app is terrible. They refuse to give me any other reason to deny my refund, falling back to the language that I in fact "can request" a refund although it'll be on a case by case basis. Well, if you use language like this, technically I "can request" a refund in any and all circumstances, not just "provided those 2 criteria are satisfied". This is just an excuse to hide behind the fine letter of their print and not having the spirit of having integrity and keeping happy customers.
There are some things in life that, if you try it out, you'll get punished. Phone2.IO is one of them. They have many, many alternatives and competitors. You don't have to use Phone2.IO, and it's best for you if you don't.
Google "phone2.io return reviews" if you want more information.
EDIT: Based on Phone2.IO's reply, you'd think they'd resolve this quickly. Well they didn't - If they did, I wouldn't have had to write this review. Absolutely non-cooperative. So, Phone2.IO, are you actually going to do what you claim to do in public, or do you act completely different behind the scenes?
Response from Phone2Sep 8, 2025
Hi Henry — thank you for your detailed feedback, and I’m very sorry for the frustration you’ve had.
First, regarding the call reliability: we recently upgraded to HD Voice, which did cause some disruptions since Friday. An Android update was released on August 24 to address this — were you able to upgrade? This update has resolved call stability and missed notification issues for most users.
On refunds: our policy is to honor all refund requests. Since I can’t see your information here on TrustPilot, could you please email [email protected] from the same email you used to sign up? That way we can look at your account logs, troubleshoot what happened, and process a refund right away if you’d like.
About the “mandatory app” concern — Phone2 works on iOS, Android, and the web (app.phone2.io). If you’d prefer not to use the app at all, you can set your number to forward calls to another line. That way, you don’t have to use the app interface if it doesn’t suit your workflow.
We absolutely want you to have a smooth experience, and I apologize if our communication hasn’t conveyed that clearly. Please reach out directly so we can either make this right or refund you promptly. We’re on standby to resolve this today.

BIG problems…
I have had phone2 since Skype shut down last May. I have tried to call the U.S, 10 to 15 times since and more than half the time the line goes dead during the conversation. Sometimes a call back has been successful and sometimes not. Very poor service.
Also, my bank cannot text codes to my phone 2 number even though it is a Washington DC number. I talked with them about this and was told the problem is on your end. I am extremely dissatisfied with phone 2 service. Another thing, when I changed from Skype. all my contact numbers were to be ported over but out of more than 30, only one number was ported from Skype to Phone 2
Response from Phone2Sep 2, 2025
Hi Thomas, I’m very sorry our support team wasn’t able to resolve this for you 🙏 I’m concerned we may need to reset the traffic routing on your account since you have a ported, well-established number. I’ve just sent you a support ticket email so we can work on this directly — please standby.
Quick question: are you having trouble replying to your bank’s SMS codes for 2FA? Right now, outbound SMS (including replies) requires the Pro plan. However, in the coming days we’ll be enabling replies to short codes from banks on all plans — so if that’s the issue, it’s about to be resolved.
As for your Skype contacts, we can manually assist with syncing and porting to make sure nothing is lost.
Thanks for your patience, and let’s continue in the support ticket so we can get this fixed for you.

great service that turned horrible
This service started out a simple dream come true solution. Now it has become riddled with glitches and so unusable that i am looking for alternatives. Phone calls drop 85% of the time and i usually cant call back with out closing the app and it still usually drops after over a month of them saying we are working to fix it. This is simply not true. Look for other options
Response from Phone2Sep 2, 2025
Hi Kyle, we’re very sorry for the disruption. I’m reviewing your support ticket now, but we weren’t able to confirm which device this is happening on. I’ve also requested your permission to log in and troubleshoot directly. Please let’s continue the discussion there so we can get this resolved.
In the meantime, the August 22nd iOS & Android updates fixed many of the drop issues.
Update here:
📲 phone2.io/android
📲 phone2.io/ios
We’ll work with you in the ticket to either resolve the issue today or issue a refund if needed. Thank you for your patience 💪

Poor customer service and UX+ ads funnels off
UPDATE: In response you your reply, This is the same exact reply I have received every time I have tried to talk to you and when I respond privately in email, nothing changes. As a marketer, I see the issue. There is a break in your ad funnels, and we are not always getting what is said in the ad. and then it changes. I have gone through this multiple times which is why I am now writing a review.
You all have treated me like I was lying. I know what I signed up for based on the ad. If I didn't pay attention to the fine print that is my fault but on the ad it said $4 ( I am paying $5) and that unlimited SMS ... never mentioned ONLY OUTGOING. This was before Skype even stopped working so I can't go back and check it... When you all were targeting the market... But now I am stuck with poor service and no fix or help. You all post these responses to make yourselves look available but when we go private, it's not the same. So let's take care of it here. Thank you.
Poor customer service. They have so many different priced marketing funnels out there that the ads aren't lining up and you might not pay what the ad shares.
When you contact them, They don't problem solve, they argue and try to prove themselves right.
The service sucks. It never rings so always a missed call. The ad I clicked to get my service said SMS and I sent an SMS and now they said that my plan doesn't cover it and now I can't send SMS any more.
App and online both are missing calls and I have enough computer experience to understand settings. It is all around just a poor UX and customer service provider and I would suggest trying to find something better
Response from Phone2Aug 29, 2025
Hi there, we’re really sorry for the frustration, and especially if any of our past communication came across as argumentative. That’s not the experience we want to provide. 🙏
To clarify our pricing: we currently offer two plans — a basic plan and a pro plan. We’ll make sure that’s always clear up front. You can see a summary here: checkout.phone2.io
On the call reliability side: have you updated to the latest Android/iOS build (released Aug 23)? This update fixed several issues with missed calls.
Please email us at [email protected]
so we can review your account and issue a refund or make things right. Thank you for giving us the chance to improve and we're very sorry for any disruption this has caused your business.

Nightmare
Ported over my Vonage number on the assumption that their ad which says unlimited incoming and outgoing texts in the US and Canada was to be honored. It was b.s. Firstly, you need a "Pro" plan which costs more, then they tell you that it doesn't really work on android phones, then one guy suggests that I open an LLC so that I can text my friends and family in the US. The only thing they did right was to port my number, which may have been thanks to Vonage cooperating properly. Looking for alternatives. Very amateurish and non-intuitive support system. It seems they get back to you only to give you more bad new about what DOESN'T work or what costs more money. Zero points.
Response from Phone2Aug 21, 2025
Hi Branimir, thank you for sharing your feedback — and I’m sorry this has been your experience.
To clarify: Phone2 does work on Android phones. We released a new build on August 8th that resolved many of the earlier issues, so if you haven’t updated yet, I’d encourage you to do so.
Regarding SMS: our Basic plan includes inbound SMS. For outbound SMS, U.S. carriers require business registration under 10DLC rules (with very few exemptions like Google Voice, which are all being phased out in 2025). Such is the current nature of SMS in the U.S., and we apologize for the frustration this causes. More info here: phone2.io/10dlc
We don’t see your account details here, so could you please email us at [email protected] with your username? We’d like to investigate your case directly and resolve this for you as quickly as possible.
Thank you again — we truly want to make this right.
