Would not recommend for Bulldogs
I purchased my Frenchie through Pawrade/PetPay because they claimed to work with “responsible and reputable” breeders. I knew they can be prone to health issues, and that was exactly why I chose to use a platform that supposedly prioritized reputable breeders. I wanted to do everything possible to get a quality puppy. My Frenchie is now 3 years old and suffers from severe allergies and significant reactivity. Multiple vets have told me his allergies are most likely hereditary. I have already spent thousands of dollars on treatments, medications, training, and other care. I understand that French Bulldogs are predisposed to certain health problems. That is precisely why I expected breeder screening and health testing to be taken seriously. In 2026, I contacted PetPay directly and asked whether they require genetic health testing of the parents of puppies being bred and sold through their platform. I was shocked to learn that they do not. I also asked how they prescreen and approve the breeders they work with and what genetic/health testing they require, but they would not provide specific information about their breeder screening requirements. Even more concerning, I discovered that Bulldogs are excluded from many of their health guarantees. To me, this contradicts the very reason a buyer might choose their platform when purchasing a breed known for hereditary health risks. I don't expect a company to guarantee that a Frenchie will never develop health problems. I expected transparency, meaningful breeder screening, and appropriate health testing so buyers could make informed decisions. I absolutely adore my dog, and none of this is his fault, but I deeply regret not doing more due diligence before purchasing through Pawrade. Based on my experience, I strongly encourage anyone considering this platform to ask detailed questions about parental genetic testing, breeder screening, and exactly what health conditions are excluded from their guarantees before buying.
