Hi Lyssie, We apologize for any confusion or misunderstandings. Your pet's microchip is not a GPS enabled device - a microchip is an unalterable form of identification that cannot be tampered with. In the event your pet is lost and scanned, the scanner will only display your pet's unique microchip number (the scanner does not have the ability to respond with pet or owner info). Your registration in the PetLink database determines who this pet's owner on record is. If your pet is wearing a collar tag the finder will know to contact directly, otherwise the finder may use the search engine available on AAHA's website. If you click here and enter your pet's registered microchip number AAHA will identify which database the microchip is registered with. Once it comes to our attention that your pet has been located we will file a found pet report and contact you by email, text, and phone to assist with the reunification process.
