Unreliable
They asked for this review, so here it is. When I first downloaded the app it was great, but most accounts don’t update correctly or regularly. I read somewhere that they were good at keeping up on this, but in the 4 months I’ve had the app I haven’t seen any of them get fixed and only ones that at one point updated have stop working. Recently they just did a whole style update, which is great but honestly a little frustrating, they should be spending their time making the app work right but instead it just looks better, and still doesn’t work right.

Don't bother with their advisory services
One of my worst experiences in talking to a financial adviser. Generally, a financial adviser should be your thought partner and be willing to work together to put a plan that works for you and not push a cookie cutter plan that your computer has spit out based on some broad averages and generic rules. They will ask your risk tolerance and goals (e.g. time to retirement, target monthly expenses in retirement, kids education, etc.) and based on that they come up with a mix of asset classes. Once this mix is determined in up front consultation, they do not change it nor do they change sector allocations for stocks - no matter what economic conditions are, what stock market conditions are. They claim to be using smart portfolio theory, but all they do is allocate the portion of your funds within stock asset class across all sectors in equal weight. Their model is designed to be very tool based. They claim to provide advisory services, but essentially they have hired a bunch of impolite, pushy, largely low caliber "advisers" who basically regurgitate what their tool has told them.
if you do not know anything and are just getting started, then they may work for you, but for more sophisticated investors, stay away from their advisory services... not worth it.

Unable to link 2 of my accounts
Unable to link 2 of my accounts (a local bank and American Education Services). Have been trying for about a year, emailing Personal Capital numerous times about the issue. They have yet to fix it. They keep claiming they're working on it whenever I ask them for an update (which they never provide of their own accord).

No response from this company. It is a scam. They want you to buy "advice" from them...advice you do not need. If you do not buy a package, they do not care about you.

Flakey connections
It doesn't connect properly to accounts. Connections are sporadic. Support is slow to respond. It used to be good, and for a free service it's probably OK if you stay with major banks.

The site is useless
You can't even link my 401k account. It has been missing for two weeks now. It completely renders the site useless. If one account doesn't link that ruins the entire website.
I see your TV ads all day. Quit spending on ads until you have a product that actually works.
Merrill online benefits is the account that is not linking. I have emailed the company twice about this and twice gotten the same generic reply with no reason as to why it is not linking.

Hey Kyle, I'm sorry to hear our site is giving you trouble. I'd be happy to look into this issue for you. Which 401K account is not linking?

Won't connect with anything, support unresponsive
Won't connect with my Wells Fargo mortgage account OR Franklin Templeton major investment account, making it completely useless. Also I opened a support ticket and never received any reply.
