I find Personal Capital to be better designed and much easier to track investments and their performance. I will say that I have had some issues in the past with accounts not syncing. Their customer service has always been great, even though it sometimes took longer than expected for a fix. All that has never stopped me from using it because I like it too much!

I know personal capital won't change my bank account. However I have to give out my bank account credentials, which can enable others to do a lot of damage to me. I know personal capital won't want to do damage to me. But it's going to give me peace of mind if I am only giving out read-only access tokens of my bank account. With that being said, Personal Capital is still great.

Personal Capital is great for an overview of your Networth. I would not recommend using for your monthly budget.

I use Personal Capital as a complement to other services. PC provides a great long term view of my goals and I love the weekly snapshot that compares to last months spending, this has really helped me to try and play a game to keep this months expenses lower than last months.

Financial management for people who are not top income earners revolves around two key areas: (1) Net Worth, (2) Day to day budgeting. Personal Capital does part one very well and lacks in the second area. I enjoy using Personal Capital to plan for retirement and get an overview of my net worth. I use the website to analyze my retirement accounts and keep tabs on my total Net Worth. It is the best tool available to do these things. For Day-to-Day budgeting Personal Capital software lags behind competition significantly. This experience is not user friendly and is extremely limited. It would be amazing if Personal Capital purchased YNAB and incorporated the software together. This would truely make it a 1 stop shop for all things personal finance.

This software is pretty great! My only issues have been occasional problems connecting to my bank. I wish that the retirement calculation feature was a bit more robust and that more retirement related features could be added.
