Hi Alan. Thank you for the order and also the feedback regarding your experience. When ordering online the shipping charges are calculated by the percentage of the subtotal. Most of the time this benefits you as the customer, but in this case it didn't. Anyway, I was able to look into other shipping options and found that FedEx would be about half the cost. Hi Ronald, I apologize for the issue you had with the dumbbell. This coating you are referring to is cast/mold release residue. It's fairly common on all rubber weights and actually adds a protective layer during shipping. To remove this, we suggest wiping them down with Mineral Spirits on a rag.
