guilty plea from 1980s was shown in the county records that i searched, but the owner could not find this conviction. I understand that only 7 years of county data are searched by the software. The owner graciously agreed to search further back but apparently he could not find it. He left me a voice mail message about a civil case, but this was unrelted.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, Herbert, and thanks for your openness in talking with me in the following days/week about the record you expected to see. As we've already discussed, I also looked directly at the county records site, but was unable to find a reportable criminal record, only a civil case and a criminal record that was voided and thus can't be reported. With the information we have today we don't see any discrepancy between the country records site and what we're allowed to report under federal law, but I'm always happy to deep dive individual questions like this and happy to continue exploring this one if you wish!
