Pennie should review the User Experience for dis-enrolling
I went into the site in order to cancel my current coverage effective on a specific date because I was enrolling in Medicare. Because reaching the age at which one becomes eligible for Medicare is a fairly life-changing and important event, I (wrongly) assumed that "enrolling in Medicare" would be a highly visible option on the site for why I was cancelling my coverage. I proceeded through the steps for "dis-enrolling" from coverage and correctly entered the date for when coverage should end. I remember then seeing a dropdown to choose an option for as to why I was cancelling my coverage. I don't remember the specific options, but I do remember I did not see an "Enrolling in Medicare" option or something similar. Nothing stood out to me as the option I should choose, so I chose "Other" or something else. All looked good, my date of termination was correct, I submitted the request and exited the site. Within a few days, I received emailed and mailed confirmations of my request, with the correct date. Then, a few weeks later I received a letter saying that my coverage had been terminated as of one month prior to the date I had entered and confirmed! At that point, I had no coverage at all. I called Pennie customer support and the very friendly and helpful agent told me that my coverage had been cancelled because whatever option I had chosen indicated that i was "Not Seeking Coverage." ??? Ok, some of this was my fault, I agree, however if that is the option I chose, it was because in my mind i was NOT seeking coverage, I already had coverage set-up - Medicare plus a supplemental plan. If "Not seeking coverage" was an option in the dropdown, I find that could be very confusing for people who are enrolled in Medicare, or Medicare plus a supplement, so in essence we are NOT seeking coverage, we already have it! I'm writing this review hoping that my experience might help someone else and maybe Pennie could review the site user-experience and make sure that all steps of the process are as clear as possible. As far as other areas of the site, we haven't had many issues navigating it, just this one experience did not work for me as intended.
