I am so disappointed with the level of care that Paycom has provided. As a new client, we have had a number of false starts and do-overs. Year-end processing has been a nightmare. I agree with other reviewers who have commented that the specialists have very little knowledge about payroll processing and tax reporting. We have been promised call-backs and follow-up that has never come. I believe that the product was mis-represented in their ability to deal with our business (higher ed). The workarounds that were provided to process payrolls are now causing problems with ACA and other year end processes. As noted by others, I have to figure out the question and the answer, because I'm not getting the level of support that I need. I outsourced the process specifically because I was looking for less work, not more. I will never recommend this company.

Do not pick Paycom for your Payroll company
Paycom is the worst payroll company that I have ever dealt with. The customer service is awful and I always seem to know more about the payroll process, line items, deductions, etc than any of the payroll specialists that I have spoken to. They are clueless about the PPP/ERC reporting and we have had 3 different specialists, that are impossible to get in touch with. They overcharge and do not do what they say they will do. Stay far away from this company.

Customer Service and Follow-Up Needs Attention
Two years ago, I couldn't wait to recommend this product to my colleagues. However, as of late, their level of service has dropped tremendously. I saw someone note their phone experience regarding customer service and I have to agree that it is not the level of service I would expect from a payroll provider. Our experience is that in the beginning we were assigned a wonderful specialist that we could call when we needed assistance. Now several years into our implementation, we can't call the specialist - they do not pick up, we call the call center and they are not able to assist (nor connect us). I've contacted the next two levels up (via email because you can't get through on phones) for help and they are nice however still unable to execute solving a problem. A customer should never have to spend over 2 months following up on a payroll issue and this has been our experience.

They will not take calls
They will not take calls. Everything has to be done via email only. Very rude and not customer services oriented. Very difficult to use website, difficult to find the reports that you need. I have used ALL of the payroll providers and this is the worst!! DO NOT USE

Would not recommend this system due to false sales promise and lack of knowledge
Would not recommend this system due to the implementation process. Introduced to this system via their sales rep. Sales rep made several promises that Paycom system wasn't equipped to handle. Once implementation started, we quickly realized that this system was unable to handle to work requirements needed for our staffing agency. Our launch date was pushed back twice. Our implementation specialist was not 100% trained on the capabilities of Paycom. Our team found ourselves having weekly meetings going over the same information week by week, with no results. We found ourselves having to keep up with our many questions, as our implementation specialist, would not follow up on answers to questions. Hence he wasn't 100% fluent on the system he was training our team on. There payroll department had no idea what a 125 form was, which was another red flag. Our company loss $5k on the one time implementation fee and all we got was an apology from sales rep, stating Paycom would love to partner with you in the future. PLEASE, PLEASE save your money and go with another company that is more versed in their system.
Update: Paycom response to my review didn’t address the many complaints that was written. It is sad when you spend thousands of dollars on implementation with a company, and they want even knowledge the many failures of their team. As stated prior, please be very careful with this company. Make them show you everything that you are needing this system to accomplish in your business, prior to signing any agreement. We were a victim to slick sales talk, on how this system will meet all our needs. We are a small business and to lose $5k is a big dent in our companies budget. Please research, research, research before locking in with this company.

Great Technology, Great Customer Relation Rep, Horrible Support
TL;DR
Joined Paycom in 2015 – MCC was never setup, when contacted, Paycom said they couldn’t do it because of the billing. We complained and finally got this setup in 2016, but lost our data from 2015 for the other client code.
We setup a new PTO policy in October of 2018 and asked Paycom to set it up. They fumbled the PTO and never set it up and I bugged them to get it right. Fast Forward to 2020, they started finally working on it with a new team and we found so many issues with the way it was setup. We’re now in 2021 and the PTO balances are still incorrect.
Paycom switches our specialists randomly and doesn’t inform us when these changes are made. I end up speaking with a supervisor and then get a call from another supervisor all together and they have no clue what’s going on so I have to explain it again. 2 months later, I’m working with someone else.
Billing – We have no clue what we are paying for the different services. When reaching out to Paycom, they sent over a bill while on a Zoom call and went over it with me. I asked about line items in a spreadsheet that showed “included” and asked them how much is this? They had no idea. 3 months later, I still don’t have an itemized bill of what we’re paying.
We had a Paycom best practice representative visit us in 2019. I told Paycom it might just be a waste of time for us, but they insisted it would greatly help. They saw that we were doing everything the best way, but we came up with a solution for our Years of Service award and tracking, but the way it was calculating based on the formula was incorrect. The representative told me that he’d check it when he gets back to OKC. To this day, 2021, we have no answer and have rewritten our policy in our handbook to exclude the award.
We tried rolling out an API with Paycom and our Point of Sale system. We franchise a Restaurant group and this would have helped Paycom secure other franchisees of our brand, as well. We met in March of 2020 and we were not even provided a contact person for the company and not one update. We want to push the envelope with technology, Paycom just has other agendas.
I was laughed at by supervisors, promised developments and items to be taken care of and never were. We are at the point where we feel like the community needs to know. You can see a lot of invited reviews here and that’s probably because they only invite those that are happy with the system.
We have 5 companies with Paycom, over 1,300 employees. We purchased close to every single add on that they offer and we’re treated like a drop in the bucket to the billion dollar company that is Paycom. If you search online, you’ll see how poorly they treat their employees and the community in OKC and maybe that’s why we see these issues. If you have more than 200 employees, Paycom is probably not for you.
They are also really expensive. We are paying north of $200K a year and we get nothing in return. Not even a Christmas card from this company. I held off for months not leaving a review in hopes that they would fix the issues. I’m getting ghosted by supervisors and people that I’ve known for 4+ years at Paycom. They’re done with me and I’m still a client. I love the technology, and the ease, but I’m sure there are other Payroll companies that have a similar platform that can offer the same without the headache. If you’re in Payroll and HR, you know how big of a pain this is to move companies. You lose data, have to train, rebuild, etc.
TLDR: Paycom client for 5 years, lots of issues with things not fixed in that past 2 years, supervisors ghosting me, passed around to different reps like hot potato, too much of a headache to switch.
