Charged me 2.89% fee when using personal credit card around tax time. Did this multiple times. No record of payments either when I tried to dispute. AVOID this provider. They are a scam. Pay the extra .1% and go with ACI payments.

I paid my taxes with them but the IRS never got the payment. When I call them, I get 30 minutes of advertisements and no human to talk to.

I used this website to pay my first estimated tax payment of this tax year on April 15 and although 1040.com sent me an email with a payment confirmation number, the payment was NEVER credited to my IRS payment account nor is there any record of it being made or pending on my IRS account. I tried to log in and see what the deal was and it said there was no account with my email address. The exact one they emailed the confirmation to. I have disputed the charge but that won’t help me when it comes to the penalty I will have to pay for not making the first quarters payment on time. I’m pissed.

Found a 60 dollar charge on credit card and after some research discovered the charge was by Pay1040. They are a 3rd party payment receiver for the IRS (among other companies). I did my taxes using TurboTax and paid using Turbo Tax. Turbo Tax evidently used the Pay1040 to actually process the payment. As per the irs website, if you pay using a debit card, its only supposed to be two dollars and 15 cents. Can you say price gauge? Better yet, can you say phantom price gauger? After a great deal of effort, I was finally able to speak to a human. I would say a wall posing as a human. The company declined a refund offering what might be called the mice type defense. I am doubtful that such mice type was on Turbo Tax. Here are my conclusions: Pay1040 is a legit company ro the extent they actually send your return to the IRS Their customer service sounds like it's off shore. I fill that they are misrepresenting themselves at best and are outright thieves at worst (the type that hides behind mice type) Their customer service doesnt just suck, they turbo suck. I guess we have Elan Musk to thank for this. He fired a huge chunk of the Federal workforce, so the government contracts out to sleazy outfits like this to do scut work. Save yourself untold misery and write a check. Otherwise, the greedy talons of Pay1040 may grab part of you and give a big squeeze.

Received an email from this company thanking me for using their service. Never did, never would.

Beware of Pay1040. IRS site says they charge 1.75% for credit card fees but if you use your PayPal credit card they treat that like a commercial card at the 2.89%. Clearly a bait and switch tactic as the other IRS credit card processor shows a fee of 1.85% however that processor actually charges 1.85% for PayPal tax payments. Buyer Beware for sure.
