Tested & Trusted Service
I really like what the site was set up to do but like many others, I suspect, I was wary as it's about trusting strangers. However, reviews are a good way of assessing walkers or sitters and the more specific they are the better. PawShake strongly advise Meet & Greet - it's definitely the way to go as it allows you to meet potential walkers etc and see how they are with your dog/pet. We met in a neutral place and literally handed over the lead and let them manage our dog whilst we walked behind watching. We have a large breed dog so not everyone would be comfortable with that. We've used the Pawshake site once and it worked brilliantly, we found a lovely person that our dog adores and who we would happily use again. I like the fact it allows you to build a relationship with the walker/sitter. We used the online payment system which gives peace of mind and protection. There is a risk to everything but if you're sensible in how you organise things then that reduces. We also looked at the very expensive, highly vetted, insured services available but you don't get to meet the person as they're often not local and travel from job to job. So in the end Pawshake won out for us. We're now looking to find a second person so we have a lovely team to choose from as obviously if booking at short notice then people are already booked up.
