It's good, just really expensive.
And, when I choose the option for breed it doesn't tell me which other tests I should test for for the dog. Also it seems colour testing is info and cost so much more.
Embark does a full coat colour trait panel with their genetic testing but when I added on the ones I thought I should use,
The only reason I went back to paw print is because I needed both the SOD1A and B tested and embark doesn't do that

Very disappointed that I have to swab…
Very disappointed that I have to swab all of my dogs again for the new test. Why can't you save enough DNA material to test. Actually, with the merle sine length that I performed on all of my dogs, finding out from geneticists that your about 1 to 2 points off scale. That is NOT good. Now I have to swab all for the CDDY-IVVD.gene. One would think it would be much more convenient if you kept or stored info to give us a break. Otherwise, with the lack of confidence in your testing we could go elsewhere. That's what I would have done if I knew I had to swab All Over Again.

Hi Sharon, We appreciate your recent order that included two dogs not tested by us before and several dogs that had previous testing with us. We do save all leftover DNA and can use that for most testing. However, the IVDD test that you ordered is a complex genetic rearrangement and uses sequencing methodologies that require a fairly fresh DNA extraction for it to work well and provide accurate results. As I am sure that you would like accurate results, rather than any result, we sent you new swab kits for some of those older, previously tested dogs. We included these additional swab kits to you at our cost so that you could collect new samples. We look forward to receiving your samples so that we can complete your testing. Regarding our merle testing, our accuracy and that of any lab sequencing the complex merle insertion with stretches of polyA, is within 1 base pair of DNA, which is perfectly sufficient to predict the coat patterns of your dogs or pup. We have published two research papers on the merle SINE insertion discussing how the testing is done and how to interpret the results and you can request copies of those from our offices. If you have any additional questions about this, you can contact us Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm Pacific and our toll free number is 855-202-4889. We appreciate your patronage since 2014. Thank you.

I was told that the final results and findings of my tests would be published so I could freely discuss them with our breed's Health and Genetics board. I feel Paw Print and other labs should share such findings to ensure accuracy and proper genetic results for breeders who strive to improve the health of their pedigrees. No need to contact me on this as I have already voiced my disappointment to your lab management back in 2018.

Thank you for your feedback. Our apologies that you had a negative experience with our laboratory. We use two independent methods for each test to ensure a 99.9% accuracy rate. Please let us know if there is anything further we can do for you.

For the same amount
For the same amount, instead of only the tests results, Embark sends 9 pages with the findings of what percent Labrador I have, ( ex. 100% Labrador) also, i have not Recently made a purchase, it has been 3 years ago.
Response from Paw Print GeneticsMar 26, 2020
Hi Kathy, thank you for your feedback. We send review invitations to any customer that had made a purchase with Paw Print Genetics in the past. Our apologies for the confusion. We do not offer breed-identification, as all of our testing is done with two independent methods to ensure a 99.9% accuracy rate. Breed identification is still a working science. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

The test was done 5 years ago. Just getting this survey now?
Low rating: my dog's test results said he had a good chance of developing aortic stenosis. I talked to the cardiologists at WSU vet school. They said there had never been a genetic correlation with that in Labradors.
Response from Paw Print GeneticsMar 26, 2020
Hi Phoebe, thank you for your feedback. We sent you an email explaining this situation. In 2014, we had pulled that test from our menu because we found a large number of dogs, from a variety of breeds, that carried that mutation and we suspected that it was not disease-causing. At the same time, another research group published that the mutation was not disease causing, but was merely a benign DNA change that had no clinical consequences. As we had already pulled the test from our menu, we were swift to send out letter to customers whose dogs carried the mutation and we also published the following blog: https://www.pawprintgenetics.com/blog/2014/11/25/newfoundland-picalm-gene-and-sas-controversy/
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hi Melissa, thanks for your feedback. It looks like you have two orders in your account. I have just sent you an email with the reports downloaded from your account from the order we received samples for. We are still waiting on a few more samples in our laboratory. Please contact us if you have any trouble or questions accessing your results in your online account. Thanks!

Long story short
Long story short; bought the wrong test; co. already had the test prev. on my dog; clicked the wrong button; tried to obtain a refund of sorts; nothing offered; tried to speak with the CEO not available, a lot of my time wasted & 80.00 gone. I will be meeting with my dogs reg. club president in a few months & plan to tell her of my experience with this company.
