PawChamp’s Subscription Practices
UPDATE: After posting this review, PawChamp’s Head of Customer Success contacted me personally, apologized for how my situation had been handled, and issued a full refund. I sincerely appreciate that they ultimately stepped in and made this right. ------------------------- I am incredibly disappointed with PawChamp and the way its subscription is handled. I signed up for a trial toward the end of March and apparently did not successfully cancel it. Beginning shortly afterward, I was charged $38.99 PER MONTH without realizing these charges were continuing. What makes this even more frustrating is that when I finally went through the cancellation process, PawChamp suddenly offered me a $29.99 LIFETIME subscription. How does it make any sense to charge an existing customer $38.99 every single month, yet offer lifetime access for less than the cost of ONE MONTH when they try to cancel? That pricing structure felt absolutely outrageous and, frankly, like highway robbery. There were also extraordinary circumstances involved. My husband died unexpectedly in a car accident on April 1, shortly after I had signed up for the trial. Needless to say, managing an app subscription was nowhere near the top of my mind during the months following his death. I explained the situation to PawChamp and told them that I genuinely believed I had canceled the trial, but they refused to refund any of the money I had been charged. I understand that technically a subscription may renew if it isn't canceled correctly. What I find unacceptable is the complete lack of compassion or reasonable customer service after I explained what had happened — especially while the company was simultaneously offering me lifetime access for $29.99 after charging me $38.99 every month. That alone tells me everything I need to know about how PawChamp values its customers. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this app to pay very close attention to the trial terms, monitor your statements, and make absolutely certain your cancellation has gone through. I will never use PawChamp again.

Dear Jared, Thank you for updating your review and for allowing us to make things right. I’m especially grateful that you took the time to share the outcome after I personally reviewed your situation. I’m glad we were ultimately able to issue a full refund and address the concerns you raised. I also want to acknowledge how difficult the circumstances surrounding your original signup were. I can understand why dealing with a subscription would have been far from your priorities during such an incredibly painful period. Your feedback about the difference between the renewal pricing and the lifetime offer is also important. I understand why seeing those two offers in close succession would raise questions about the value and fairness of the pricing. I truly appreciate your recognition of the steps we took to resolve your case. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to address this personally, and I wish you strength and all the best moving forward. PawChamp Team 🐾
