Hello, We apologize for the complicated insurance process you were subjected to and any inconvenience it caused you. As you are aware, the current state of insurance coverage and billing is quite poor, for all the parties involved. MicroGenDX has done everything we can to get coverage for our tests but despite being mentioned in treatment guidelines, having nearly 100 published studies supporting clinical efficacy, and having contracts with many of the major carriers, most companies label us as "Experimental" and deny our claims. Insurance companies can deny claims for a litany of reasons and can take months to communicate with us that they have denied a claim. The wrong-code issue you experienced is common reason why claims are denied. There are a few plans that are better at covering our tests, like traditional Medicare. Unfortunately, many private insurers and advantage plans prefer to deny our claims and subject us and patients to lengthy claims processes.
