I thought I needed a recruiter, what I got from Pathrise was so much better. I graduated with my MBA in 2020 (you can guess about the job market) and was really struggling. I received so much support from them, not only in expertise of technical areas for case studies but also in how to interview. The people there worked so hard with and for me. Can't say enough good things.

Might be worth it for someone just…
Might be worth it for someone just starting out, but the cost is too high based on what is being offered. I would recommend avoiding them.

I started with Pathrise at the beginning of March. By July, I had interviews lined up. I started my new job on August 1st. I am now making 5 times what I was before, and I found a great company with a great culture. I had to learn a lot, and do my share of the work, but my coaches at Pathrise taught me what I needed to know to get this job. Without them, I would still be working in my old job, unhappy, and making way less money. I can't even begin to explain how much I have grown personally and professionally through this experience. It has changed my life. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to advance their career. You will get back what you put in.

Automated Screening without Humans
Unfortunately, this service is not as advertised. I submitted an application and within 24 hours received a canned reply that stated I didn't have enough technical experience or academic knowledge.
This is part of the reply.
"At this time, your profile does not appear to meet the requirements for our Data track. Generally speaking, our fellows have a basic understanding of SQL, Python or other technologies relevant to the job they are seeking in addition to data science experience or education. It is important that we feel confident in our ability to support you exactly where you are as Pathrise is neither a bootcamp or a formal education substitute.
For added context; we’ve found that candidates with at least a year of relevant, full-time work experience and/or have very strong internships, education and projects are more likely to have success in our program. Our services help you showcase your skills in the job search setting, but we do not have a system in place to develop them at a higher level."
I'm guessing they just have an automated review system without human review as my resume includes nearly 7 years of professional SQL experience and an MS in Data Analytics.
I found the whole thing rather insulting.

I was approved to join Pathrise and the lady sent me the contract to sign, she said after I sign she would send me dates to do the meetings with mentors. Everything sounded good. I just had a couple questions about the 2 year payment agreement if I decided to leave the job, or was laid off, just simple questions. I emailed her twice and she never responded. To me, it just seem like a red flag, so I really don't trust the Pathrise process and that contract. Just didn't seem very transparent, so when it comes to your job, income you want to ensure there's no confusion. Maybe she thought I would just sign it and do the trial, but nope! It was very strange.

I thought Pathrise would be the ticket…
I thought Pathrise would be the ticket to help me land an IT career. They rejected me. They rejected someone with 25 years in IT. Full disclosure I have been away for several years. However, I’ve been applying for IT jobs in my field and not even getting interviews. I saw an ad on TikTok. Filled it out. Sent my resume and got a rejection letter. FYI I have an associates degree in Computer Science. Yet that and 25 years of experience is not worth their time. I’m very disappointed.

Excited about my Fellow Interview...
I gave this a 5-star due to my excitement for my Fellowship Interview with Amber. My appointment is perfect and right on time since I begin a master's program starting Monday, July 18. I read someone's review on paying 9%; a Fellow alumnus stated she'd be sharing her newfound salary for the rest of her life, and she's only been on her job for six months. But she didn't speak about her blessing of having that job. I'll be paying student loans for the rest of my life and will never lose sleep over it. But a 9% fee of payments - that could be stretched over a year, AND you're on a career path that you wouldn't have been on if it wasn't for Pathrise - seems worth it to me, especially since it's only an increase one wouldn't have if it wasn't for Pathrise and it's payments for a limited time. So, if you believe in investments, believe in making investments in YOURSELF! That's why I'm doing this program, and I hope I can keep up with it and my educational goals. I'm so ready for this journey.

Welp...
This is the real deal. Just do it.
So, the primary two elements are live human support on a weekly and interview-by-interview basis (both from an assigned career mentor and industry mentors that you select from a big list at will-- as many and as much time with them as you want) and a very very good application tracking platform.
I am in data science and I had gone a couple years applying to a handful of things off and on but bombing the interviews, or not hearing back. As soon as I got my resume rewritten by a professional, my LinkedIn done, etc, things started heating up. Within a few months I literally could not book all the interviews I was getting into a business week (I was working a day job also) and had to tell people to hold on / had to cherry pick which interviews. Recruiters starting blowing me up every day. I actually wound up getting an offer from my dream company / original goal, but didn't even pick them in the end.
I read some review before I joined where someone said they were actually bummed to have to leave the program. I can't believe I actually wound up ENJOYING doing this job hunting process, but it becomes like a weird hobby because of the community around it and people who really want to hear what happened and so on. I definitely feel like I could job hunt again and not be overburdened if I lost this job for some reason (not to jinx myself). I actually am sad to leave, believe it or not.
I did meet my financial goal and hit almost every single one of my dream items for a company (sector of choice, remote, X amount of money, X subfield of data science, X type of culture-- the only thing was I had planned to work for a big company yet wound up picking a small company).
I got 3 offers the same week and one of them was "just right" so I took it (however, I was very willing to hold on until I got the perfect thing).
I realized I had been way way WAY undervaluing my market rate. Like 50k undervaluing. I did actually have the "dream outcome" where I self-taught coding from an impoverished situation* and now am making 6 figures.
*Note: while there is weekly code review and pair programming and stuff, this is not a technical bootcamp. Those workshops/meetings are only to keep you in the swing of things and I actually didn't attend them bc I had work. However there are a few different ones and you go to the ones associated with your field.
They do prompt graduates to write reviews so there may be some filtration bias for people who actually completed the program, but there is no incentive to write a positive review over a negative one. I was also very concerned about that "bootcamp results fudging" thing where a program will kick so many people out or it's such a trial by fire that of course the graduates have stellar results bc they're the only ones who survived-- this is NOT like that. When I joined they told me they've only ever heard of like one or two people who got kicked out ever in the history of the program, and a couple who dropped out due to major life events like a death in the family. At no time did I feel like I was under pressure to perform. There were times when it wasn't feasible for me to keep up with the due dates on stuff bc I was interviewing, and they were cool with that.
10/10 would recommend, seriously. They deserve the money they're getting from my income share agreement. I've recommended it to a couple people already who claim they are looking for work but interestingly a lot of people aren't willing to commit to anything that is going to be actual effort (you can do a 2 week trial for free without signing anything or giving them any billing info or anything-- that's what got me in. I was just curious and then I was like OK yes I'm doing this).
