I had high hopes…but it's a money grab.
I really had high hopes for this service. It's turning out to be one of my biggest mistakes in my function health & wellness journey. I paid out of pocket for a Complete Care annual membership at the start of this year, following a good call with their sales rep. Unfortunately, the good times ended there. I assumed I would be seeing a doctor. However, the list of 9 available clinicians included only 3 doctors - the rest were Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assistants. I don't mean to say that they are unqualified, but they are not doctors. You cannot have a consult with anyone - you must choose based entirely on their profile. The doctor I chose was unfortunately not a great experience, didn't feel collaborative, and basically left me feeling really disappointed. So I reached out to Parsley and they kindly redirected me to a Nurse Practitioner that was recommended based on my goals. My one call with my Coach was completely useless. They basically said, wait until I speak with my doctor. While the experience from a collaborative standpoint improved with the NP, I still felt a lack of connection and understanding. My NP kept confusing which state I was living in, had difficulty understanding my supplements (to be fair there are many), and could only silo in on limited focuses. She made some recommendations, and suggested various extra paid tests for me to perform. Here's where I became incensed: the tests that Parsley recommended are through other public services. Like 3x4 Genetics or GI-MAP. I had to pay the retail pricing to Parsley, plus a $100 "admin" fee to Parsley. Basically it's a fee Parsley charges to order the test for me. Additionally, the price I paid to Parsley is retail - one of the above services 'accidentally' sent me an invoice showing that Parsley paid less than retail for the test. Stop there... so Parsley makes commissions from the tests that they ordered for patients. AND charges patients $100 just to order a test. It continues with Full Script. This is a great service I've used to order my supplements. Full Script is clear that store owners can choose to offer patients a full discount on products (up to the maximum of 35% off) *OR* lower the discount and keep the difference as a commission. Guess which one Parsley chose? Surprise: Parsley offers gives their clients a 15% discount. Parsley is a service that clients are already paying a premium for. And on top of that, they are taking commissions and charging fees to clients. Be aware, and beware.
