Big Help
Pros: The diaper pail does keep odors contained and out of the room. It’s small enough that it can easily fit into the space nicely. It’s durable and well made. Cons: It doesn’t hold as many diapers as I thought it would so I need to change out the bag more often, which is obviously more costly. *I use it for my adult sister who wears an adult medium. Diapers that go into the pail are about 6.5” x 6.5” x 6.5”* The only thing I don’t like, is the pungent smell every time I change the bag (every other day). It is so strong and lingers even after spraying a room deodorizer. Before placing a diaper in the pail I sprinkle baking soda on the soiled area then double wrap the diapers in a scented (baking soda/Febreeze) bag. Then double wrap in a grocery or bread bag before placing in the pail. Diapers with a bowel movement are taken to the outside garbage can and never placed in the diaper pail. My sister’s room is directly off the kitchen...not an ideal location for wafts of diaper pail odor. Thankfully we live in a warmer climate so I can empty the pail outside. I have many severe back issues so carrying the full can outside to empty is a struggle. The smell does remain inside the pail so I wipe down with vinegar and sprinkle with baking soda then leave the door open to air out until the next diaper change. Bottom Line: it’s much better than no diaper pail and it keeps the room odor free. If the bags had baking soda and a stronger scent it would help so changing the bag wouldn’t be so smelly.
