I applied for multiple PSW positions with Paramed and had a disappointing experience. Three female friends and I applied around the same time with similar qualifications. The female applicants received positive responses, while I and other applicants of different genders were rejected or did not receive the same consideration. While I cannot know the exact reasons behind the hiring decisions, this experience gave me the impression that the recruitment process may not have been applied equally to all candidates. I hope the company continues to improve transparency and fairness in its hiring practices.

This place sucks big time
This place sucks big time. They lie to you on the phone. Only one psw Melodie will call me the afternoon before to let me know when she is coming. She is the best the rest are too lazy to call me. They like to keep you guessing. I think if i didnt have Melodie i would give up on paramed. Its said its like this.

The bad to worst experience
On December 16, I received an email from Ms. Brown requesting that I complete a signature form to authorize the release of my medical records from Johns Hopkins.
On December 17, I called Johns Hopkins and spoke with Tracy, but was unable to obtain any meaningful information.
On December 18, I called again and spoke with Andrea, who explained the situation and outlined the next steps.
I called a third time on December 19 and spoke with Karen, who confirmed Andrea’s information and stated that my records are now being processed.
According to the Johns Hopkins Records Department (per Andrea), the initial request from Parameds was received on December 7. Johns Hopkins receives many requests from Parameds and consistently follows the same procedure: they do not accept digital signatures and have never done so. Andrea stated she was surprised that the request for my records arrived with a digital signature, and therefore, the request was returned.
Nine days after that initial request, on December 16, Ms. Brown sent me a manual form. I printed, signed, and returned it on December 17. Johns Hopkins received that second request, with a physical signature, on December 18.
I was informed that fulfillment will take 7–10 business days, placing completion around January 5 or later. In other words, the process of obtaining my records will take approximately one month solely due to preventable procedural errors regarding the signature submission. I asked Andrea if the request could be expedited; she said she would inquire. Karen confirmed today that the request is being expedited.
Today is Jan 3, 2026 and still NO records

Nightmare Experience with Paramed…
Nightmare Experience with Paramed Administrators and the PSWs of this Company.
I will rate the service of PSWs and the supervisor, of PSWs, named Helen , at the Richmond Hill area below zero.
I describe the services as unprofessional, unreliable, careless, unkind and at times hostile and confrontational. A bunch of lazy people just want to get access to easy money by knocking on the door of the most vulnerable people who need help, and refuse to do their required approved task and spend their time on personal calls or doing their own aerobic exercises and leave early.
The PSW's Job needs to be regulated in Ontario. Currently, there is no evaluation for quality assurance of this group by the government; it is all in the hands of a bunch of greedy people as administrators and so-called supervisors in private and profitable companies, who look after their own wages and interests out of taxpayers' money. The administrators are not client-focused at all; they are only pro-PSWs with no disciplinary procedure for the most serious incidents that PSWs are causing in people's homes, such as damage to property, negligence, etc. THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY AND RELIABILITY.

For eight days I have tried to reach…
For eight days I have tried to reach someone about my husband's care plan. Recently a PSW refused to do anything because she said there were only 2 items on the care plan. One was to change his colostomy bag. Big problem - he has never had a colostomy. The second was to assist him in showering, but he was too tired to shower. Making him sandwiches, throwing his clothing into the washing machine or watching and encouraging him to do his post stroke hand exercises were all things she refused to do. I cannot reach anyone at ParaMed because they don't call back.

Very bad service
I have been getting respite care for my 90 yr old Mom for 3 weeks now. From 4 to 6 everyday. 9 times out of 10 they are late and leave early to get to their next patient. They don’t speak to my mother, just ignore her.Today, a Sunday of a long weekend the agency called at 4 pm to say the PSW had cancelled and may have someone there by 5pm. Yea, that is gonna happen.
Former RN speaking, this is a poor example of nursing care in our time!!’

This used to be a good organization
Paramed used to be a good organization. PSWs were sometimes a little late but for the most part they came to take care of my nonagenarian bedridden mother. Now, every week at least one PSW doesn't show up and I'm not notified that they're not coming and, at least twice nobody showed up at all for the day. There's a regular schedule and sometimes I have two PSWs showing up at the same time because one PSW is fully 3, 4, or 5 hours late. If I'm not there sometimes they don't change her so she's left in her own feces and urine until we find out. This is a 90 year old who is stuck in bed and relies on them to change her diaper. Truly, Paramed shouldn't be running an organization that takes care of elderly and sick who are an at risk segment of the population and I would barely use Paramed to deliver food much less care for invalids if I had any choice.
