So much to offer
So much to offer, whether you like museums or entertainment, hiking or food and drink all so close to walk to or a short Uber drive. Or rent a car and drive a bit further out for bigger trails and exploring other cities. Make sure to ask the locals what the best spots are! We arrived Sunday afternoon and decided to rent a car. Drove North to Boulder and enjoyed the Dushanbe Teahouse (6/10); Great spot if you like Indian food and beautiful architecture, and a gorgeous location. After lunch we had headed back to Denver to check into the Maven Hotel (9/10). We have visited this hotel a few years ago, but never stayed at it, and I'm glad we got to experience one of the rooms because it is a beautiful hotel with very comfortable quarters. For dinner we enjoyed Marco's coal fired pizzeria and would give it an (7/10). The staff is extremely friendly and several great options of food and drink to choose from. Monday morning we found a Mexican cafe for a great cup of coffee and a concha to enjoy on our way to the Butterfly Pavilion (7/10). If you like bugs this place is for you, lol, my mini-me loved it. Afterwards we wanted to do a bit of shopping so we grabbed lunch at Punch Bowl Social (6/10) enjoying the chicken sandwiches and walked around the local shops. We then enjoyed a round of mini-golf at PuttShack and had a great time (8/10). For our dinner we had reservations to Linger, known for its history in being a mortuary turned into a restaurant. Such a cool building, but incredibly disappointed in the food, especially for the cost, we definitely left very disappointed (3/10), but made up for it with enjoying an ice cream cone from the soda shop in our hotel. Tuesday we started off at Cafe Zuri for another great cup of coffee and a pastry (8/10). Then we headed west to hike Echo Lake (9/10). An amazing location, but definitely would be a bit challenging for a non-hiker. 5 miles later we were starving so we came back to Denver to grab lunch at Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar (8/10) at Union Station. Honestly the best fried chicken I've had in a while! We had some extra time, so we headed to the Downtown Aquarium. There were definitely a ton of fish, but setup really well (7/10). For dinner that evening we had reservations at Ace Eat Serve. An interesting Asian restaurant with several ping pong tables set up in the back for entertainment? It was happy hour, so we selected several items off that list to share. Again, we were left incredibly disappointed and still hungry due to not wanting to order anything else (3/10). We left there 30 minutes after arriving and headed back to the hotel. We chose to walk next door to Foraged and enjoyed a couple sushi rolls, pot stickers, and miso soup. Same price, but so much better, and my mini-me made sure to bring dessert back to the room for later(8/10)! We had a great time together and found plenty to do. I'm not sure I would do it again with my child, but would be fun as a couple or with friends. I would recommend a rental car verse an Uber so you have more freedom, but if you don't plan on going far the car service is great.
