I order 9 vegetables plants on the 9th of November and I received them only today, Friday the 24th. The plants have arrived in terrible condition, packaging must have been put upside down. Out if their pots, dry and broken. Black kale full of insect bites. This is the worse plants delivery I ever had up to date from a veg supplier. I will def no shop here again. I wish I could attach the images of them!

They used to be good. Now generally incompetent and providing a very poor disorganised delivery service. Over a month since live raspberry plants were despatched, One replacement hasn't arrived. but noted on Whistl website as being in a delivery depot for 9 days - 9 days for LIVE PLANTS ?? Second replacement promised by OC today but will take another 14 days apparently. So a 6 week delay from original despatch notice. Far too long as rasps should have been planted by now. I see other reviewers mention the associated companies. It's a very odd set-up but one of their group, Dobies, has just sent me some very dead tomato plants. Dobies have promised replacements "by the end of the month". Seems to be no urgency about remedying mistakes in either organisation. I have been a member & supported of the Henry Doubleday Charity for many years but am considering withdraweing my support as the OC is clearly not up to its earlier standards and I do not want my donations supporting incompetence and negativity. With the number of negative reviews one would think there might be a management strategy overhaul but looks like a failing organisation. Pity - they used to have a good name and a commendable philosophy. but have gone downhill badly

Ordered a single cucumber plant in an offer at £3.99, intended to order the treble up offer ( 3x plants) for £4.99. 1 x Peat-Free 9cm Potted Plant £5.99 NOW £3.99 3 x Peat-Free 9cm Potted Plants £17.97 NOW £4.99 - SAVE £12.98! Called to ammend the order, the operator could not see the offer I had been sent so took the £4.63 ?? I paid for the single plant and charged me another £7 meaning the £4.99 offer cost me £11.63 plus, I called back to query and was given an additional £2.38 refund. Also your delivery charges are excessive. Unsubscribed from your mailing lists, feel cheated, lesson learnt.

If only I checked the reviews before ordering. Four items. Two dead on arrival. One never arrived. Customer service very polite but I suspect they're overworked with complaints.

I have used this company for some years and been very happy with my plants(well packaged in great condition) Sorry to say this is no longer the case.Plants arrive dead or almost dead after complaints I was sent replacement (also dead) i am now being ignored by cust service after being given 1 refund.This company owns 3 gardening companies which were independent all with the same results, plants arriving dead or in poor condition.Tomato and pepper plants i saved are now well behind how they should be.Can't find words for this companies dreadful service.Other people i have spoken to have same problems.

I’m deeply saddened to write this review. The Organic Gardening Catalogue was an arm of Garden Organic (formerly the Henry Doubleday Foundation) - a pioneering organisation that my family has supported for over 30 years. I’ve bought from them for a long time, not because of the discount for members but because it brought income to support organic gardening. Chase Organics used to supply amazing plants. They were bought by Suttons. Completely horrified at what I received from them this year. Wizened almost rootless sweet corn in a bag of bone dry compost (supposed to be a tray of seedlings and a “postiplant”), rotting tomato plant, supposedly grafted plants completely separated from the graft, … just terrible! My last delivery of plants spent 5 days in a box! Hardly surprising that most were ner dead on delivery. I’m hoping I can add photos to this post. They’re bad!

I ordered 3 cucumber plants and 2 pepper plants both in 9cm pots. I got 2 notifications of dispatch with 2 seperate tracking numbers simultaneously. I was a bit confused by that but was interested to see if they turned up at the same time. The first to arrive was the 3 cucumber plants packed into a cardboard box, the condition of the plants I can only describe as decimated. It seems the standard method at orgainc gardening for packing 9cm pots is to put each in a polythene bag and then stick a skewer through the bag and pot in the hope of holding it all together. That doesn't work as all the compost and plants were out of the pots and in the bottom of the box. Needless to say the plants were in pieces. I called customer services and was told I would have to be refunded as they did not have any of these plants left. I was very disappointed as I really wanted these. I quickly trawled the internet and found some of these cucumbers as plug plants and ordered them before realising That the company I had ordered from (Thompson and Morgan) is actually Branded Garden Products - which is also The Organic garden catalogue, Suttons, Dobies etc. I looked back on the Organic garden website and they had these plug plants for sale so she could have offered me those but didn't. I was refunded the cost of these 3 plants plus 56p (cost me 5.99 for the 2 orders for postage). This order was delivered by EVRi (Hermes). The second delivery came a day later with Yodel, again the same packing method, (plastic bag and skewer), but the skewers this time were about 45cm long and wedged into the box so the contents were not quite as bad as the first delivery. Compost was still spewed out into the box but the peppers were more or less intact. I quickly got these back into the pots and I am hoping they recover. So,in summary - Rubbish packaging, Rubbish Customer service, Rubbish Company!

If I could leave a minus star rating I would. I have never ever come across a worse more totally incompetent bunch than this. I ended up dealing with their head office ( which is Thompson and Morgan by the way) and have been refunded in full. Their packing is especially bad. One of the plants I ordered was a cucumber which was longer than the box they used. What did these comedians do? They folded the plant! I kid you not. The stem was folded in half!! It plus the grafted tomato plants are in my compost heap. I can only with hand on heart tell you to avoid them like the plague.
