When you order onions and get flowers you'd never buy yourself you know that the catalogue is nothing like it used to be

After buying very poor grafted plugs…
After buying very poor grafted plugs from Suttons last year, I thought I had found a new supplier.WRONG!
Not got the plants yet but when I do I might upgrade my review.
It’s up to you.

A Very Big Corporation of Garden Products
Have unsubscribed from this firm's mailings 3 times in the last week and am still getting emails, including the one prompting this review. How many orders for organic seeds and products does this firm think I want to make, and are they carrying out an experiment to see how many emails they can send before I block them?
It's called the Organic Catalogue, but some product lines are not even available as organic, in spite of the fact that other companies are able to provide organic alternatives. The catalogue itself is not as bad as the website, but when you trawl the website, you start to get the impression that organic products are very much the minority. I'm sure it wasn't always thus, and frankly starts to seem quite misleading.
Placed an order a week ago and received three separate deliveries on the same day as each other. One delivery for a single packet of seeds, one for a bare-root plant, and one for a container plant. Madness if you ask me. Delivery was fairly quick, but it gets confusing when you receive multiple emails from the same company and the courier firm all relating to different deliveries.
The strawberry plants I ordered at the same time as the rest, in spite of being in stock at the time of order, are being sent within an estimated 21-day period, though that I don't mind at all because it gives me extra time to prepare the ground. I cannot comment on these as yet as I haven't received them.
The seeds I haven't yet sown, so no comment, but the plants seemed healthy and happy to me.
But it all seems very corporate to me these days. Did I mention I don't love the marketing emails?

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologise for the frustration caused. We understand how important it is to have control over the messages you receive, and we’re looking into why you continued receiving them after unsubscribing. Our dedicated team work 7 days a week and are happy to update your marketing preferences at any time. Please be assured your email has now been removed from our email mailing list, this can take 48hours to come into effect.
While we strive to offer as wide a range of organic products as possible, some items may not currently be available in organic-certified versions, we can only apologise for any disappointment caused.
We dispatch all our items as soon as they are ready to leave, due to the nature of live plants this can sometimes result in staggered deliveries. We are sorry for any hassle this may have caused but we feel it is important to dispatch items promptly rather than delay the whole or if one item is due to leave us later in the season.
Thank you again for your valuable feedback as this will help us improve your experience with us in future. If we can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to get in touch with our friendly team, Email: [email protected] Telephone: 0333 240 0776. Kindest regards, Meg. The Organic Gardening Catalogue.

less Stress please
According to the tracking info, my order was with Whistl the very next day. They in turn handed off the seed part of the order to Royal Mail the next day, fine so far, then nothing more until it arrived today, the 13th. That is slow, even for second class. The garlic bulbs arrived very quickly, but rattling around in a too-big box, no padding, so there was plenty of room to accommodate my seed packets. A new order-filling system ifs needed at the very least, and perhaps a better way to ship orders. Unnecessary stress, wondering what had happened, and thinking I was going to have to spend valuable time tracking down the shipment I thought was lost.

Poor quality
Order arrived quick after dispatch but when I opened the box, quite a few onion bulbs were rotten. I dont even know if they're gonna last until being planted... not great

Plants in disastrous condition and badly packed
Last year the plants were great - this year, disastrous. A few arrived in good condition and well packed, but 2 of 3 tomatoes and all 9 bean plugs were atrocious - and so dry, and badly packed, that it was inevitable they would fall out of their pots and get further damaged. The tomatoes were a replacement for an order that never arrived (no notification given), and were already very late for starting off tomatoes; the 2 which died had clearly never been planted up into the pots in which they arrived, as there was not a single root outside the original plug ball. And the beans - also hopelessly late for planting - looked like bean sprouts which had been in a car crash: all long and thin, and most of them broken. At least the refund arrived quickly. I shall not be using them again.

We are pleased that our Customer Service Team were able to arrange a refund but understand that this does not make up for the disappointment caused. Kind Regards, Amy, Organic Customer Care

Not great
I have ordered seeds twice from OGC for this years veg patch. The delivery times and packaging were fine. However a large proportion of the seed packets I recieved are not orgainic but Dobies own brand in a paper packet. So beign called the OGC is a misnomer. Quite a lot of the seeds have failed to germinate or have poor stunted growth. The runner beans are a mixture of different varieties and the quality of the plants this year are poor.

Good afternoon Emily. Until recently, organically produced seeds were rare and using untreated non-organic seed was the only option for most organic growers. However, since then, the situation has improved and we now have many sources of organic seeds, many of which are available exclusively in the UK through The Organic Gardening Catalogue. Our seed range consists of both organic and non-organic seeds and we are sure to label them on our website so our customers are aware of this when they order from us. There are still gaps where no organic seed is available, and our aim is to fill these when we can. Until that time we will continue to offer high quality, non-organic seed of varieties that have been shown to perform well in organic gardens, providing our customers with the widest possible choice.
We are so sorry to hear your seeds did not perform how we would expect. This is certainly not the standard of quality we our proud to provide and although we have very stringent quality checks for our seeds, it sounds like we may need to investigate this further. We apologise for the disappointment this caused. Customer satisfaction is important to us and we always want to ensure our customers are happy with their order. Please contact our Customer care team via email at [email protected] and they will be happy to offer a resolution for you regarding the germination issues you have experienced with the seeds.

Careful.
Ordered £100 of seeds - website states 24hrs to despatch, 7 -14 days for potatoes (apparently because they come all the way from Scotland). Order email however states 7-10 days for seeds and 14-21 for potatoes. This is with their £5 charge. Spoke to Customer Services as website Contact Us failed twice. Advisor basically pretended they had just found out today that things were taking longer. Asked to speak to a manager. She put me onto another advisor (Andy) even worse. Like speaking to a tired robot. No option to speak to a manager. No idea on who their director was. Nothing to be done at all. He eventually asked a supervisor then checked my order and told me it was in Pre-pick so should be despatched in 24 hrs. Then up to 48hrs. But then up to Royal Mail, so who knows. Company has a Proposal to Strike off so I am going to give it until Monday and process a charge back if not despatched. I will also contact their board. Seeds arrived quickly and packets nicely detailed. Not checked seeds yet and potato’s still outstanding. Moved to 2 stars and will review and update accordingly.
