Once Great, Now Mediocre
Orangetheory used to be great. Prior to April 2022, each workout was designed for endurance, strength, power, or a combination. The schedule was consistent and orderly. Since the template change, the workouts feel randomly compiled and lack any serious focus. Endurance days are rare now, which makes the benchmarks artificially challenging. Inclines have gotten out of hand and are no longer beneficial, just more artificial challenge. I used to come into the studio knowing my base, push, and all out paces. Now, I have to try and figure it out for each individual workout because they are not designed consistently. I used to look forward to the benchmarks, now I dread them because I feel unprepared. The coaches do their best, but it is obvious that many no longer believe in the product they are selling. The reason for two stars instead of one is the quality of the treadmills. The treadmills are the highest quality I have had the chance to use. If the treadmills were not so addicting, I would cancel my membership. I hope Orangetheory will one day return to focused, science based workouts instead of chasing social media trends.
