They take 7-10 days to get my prescription filled… which should have been on auto fill and somehow they stopped filling it. No one works there to answer the phones.

This is a denial factory. It says on their website that they increase corporate profits. That means the look for any slight reason to deny anything. I work in healthcare this is one of the comps that gives healthcare a bad name. I can’t say everyone who works there is soulless, but if you put, I have a soul, on your application, it’s going in the trash.

I printed a coupon for Walmart with a price that was about $200 less than full retail. Walmart said the best they could do was take $50 off. I called Optum and they said "the coupon may not be accepted at all Walmarts". I asked, which one does and they said "we don't have a list". The coupon says "accepted at any Walmart". Total scam!!

I have been trying for the last 5-6 weeks to try and get my HSA funds transferred to my new administrator. The funds (>$100k) have disappeared from Optum, and no one can tell me where the check is or when do I expect to receive it. I have been on several calls with them and a collective hold time on phone for over 10-12 hours, spoke to numerous people including escalation to supervisors (Joe, Jerlacie, Roxy, Alex, etc. etc.) but there was extreme indifference by many/most of them. They even said they don't have any timeframe for resolving my issue. They each offered to open a case so that someone can research and resolve it, but never heard back on the resolution - note as of today I still haven't received funds. This is either extreme incompetence or total disregard for the customer. This company is a joke - BEWARE

I've been using optum for 5 years. And it is awful. My insurance requires I use them for any long term medications. I've been on the same medications for years. Yet EVERY TIME I need a refill - my doctor sends in the script - they tell me my doctor needs to give authorization. MY DOCTOR SENT THE PRESCRIPTION. I've phoned them and they promise it gets fixed but it never does. Their website is a mess and is often down or certain pages (such as order status) are broken and say please come back later. The process to get medications is so convoluted and a mess and the 'express' delivery so slow, that I've often been without very important medications for days at a time. Often leading me to be sick. They are also often out of stock of medications that most pharmacies near me have had easily available - asking me to ask my doctor to provide an alternative. On top of all of this they are often more expensive than most pharmacies.

They do not have on call pediatric doctors on the weekends. Called on a Saturday at 2:00 PM for a refill of antibiotic ear drops for a perforated eardrum. (nurse kept saying it’s Sunday) And response was if you need a prescription refilled for an acute infection you need to go to urgent care or ER. It is a huge network, not sure how an on-call physician is not part of it. Very poor continuation of care for pediatric patient.

I have no choice but to use them because they're the prescription plan offered in conjunction with my health insurance from my husband's work. However- they deny A LOT of popular medication, including certain birth control like Lo Loestrin FE. They don't care about your medical history, if you've been on a medication for years, etc. They just deny deny deny. It's like that movie The Rainmaker. They want to deny until you die. I'd be interested in whether they cover/approve male ED medication though. I just had another medication denied that my doctor has to appeal. It's ridiculous. You pay for insurance but then they deny the care your doctor prescribes. It's all about the dollar for them. Any time a doctor prescribes anything for me, I feel like the chances of it being approved are slim. I dread seeing it was denied. I never had this with any other prescription plan I finally got Lo Loestrin FE approved after my doctor's office appealed again, but what about all the other women who need it? There IS NO generic of Lo Loestrin FE. There are good reasons some of us are on it.

This pharmacy is a nightmare to deal with... I take a fairly expensive biologic and need to get it refilled every month. I go on to their phone app, renew my Rx at my copay price, and it gets rejected and a new bill appears for $1,000 more than my copay and I need to spend an hour or two on the phone with them. Not how I want to spend my time or energy This has been going on for over a year! My wife has the same experience with her anti-rejection meds! I so wish I had another option for a speciality pharmacy.
