I paid to have my account archived which I understand since they have to store the data and I was happy to pay the fee. I just realized that they actually made it a subscription that they're charging me annually at $29 to store my data. I I understand $29 one time and was perfectly fine with that but to be charged again - thumbs down

cancellation and refund policy is highly predatory. There is no support person just a chatbot. To the response below - I am logged into my account. I clicked support and it opened the following URL: app.optinmonster.com.account.support/ clicking the "create a support ticket" takes you to the same URL. I am cancelling my account within 1 hour of receiving the renewal notice, but you refuse to refund me for the next year of service, which I do not need. I am not even pursuing refund for the past 2 years of service which were not used. (Business/website closed).

Hi Daniel 👋 I'm so sorry for any frustration you experienced while trying to cancel your subscription, that certainly is not our goal! We provide multiple ways to reach us directly, a real human -- this can be done while logged into your account, through the Help icon at the top toolbar. If you're not logged in, you can submit our general contact form at https://optinmonster.com/contact-us/?openForm=1 and it'll reach our team directly. If for any reason those methods are not working, you can also send an email to us at support @ OptinMonster directly as well.

Absolutely incredible that for over 24 hours there was nobody answering anythnig except an AI that couldn't do anything. Nothing was working and the customer service department simply did not log into anything chat related. I stayed connected constantly trying every 30 minutes or 15 minutes during their work hours. ZERO support. If anything happens to your campaigns, make sure to expect at least 2 to 4 days of them not working. This support is the worst in the industry by far. Also, they had problems and nothing was showing for anyone and their site went down and they put up a sign that they were under maintenance when in fact nothing was working and their AI was pushing me to a 404 page to get support. Truly outrageous service. Update: Cause I cannot respond to the response. Your page, the one you linked, did not work for half of the day and you faked it online saying you were under maintenance when every single person with an account knows what the real problem is (it is actually listed in the app). So yeah, lying you are under maintenance is top notch. Whatever. I am already looking for alternatives. This is NOT the first time it takes over 24 hours to get a response.

Started working through the setup for their free plan and they want my Credit Card details and the right to take money from the card. If I reach the limits of the free tier I'll decide then if I want to move to a paid tier and provide my payment details then, not before.
Response from OptinMonsterJan 26, 2026
Hi Stuart 👋 Thanks for the honest feedback! I totally get where you're coming from... handing over card details upfront can feel like a commitment you might not be ready for yet. Just to give a little context, the main reason we do this is actually to protect your campaigns. We want to make sure there's zero interruption in your service, especially when your campaigns are performing well and you're seeing results. We'd hate for a winning campaign to suddenly pause just because a limit was hit. That being said, we want you to have full control over your account! There is a setting right inside the app that allows you to disable "auto-upgrade" completely. This way, you can run your campaigns worry-free and decide exactly if or when you want to move to a paid tier. Hope that clears things up! If you need help finding that setting, just let our support team know. 😃

I am writing this review as a warning to potential customers about OptinMonster's unethical billing practices. As a medical professional and business owner, I have dealt with numerous SaaS providers, but OptinMonster's conduct has been absolutely unacceptable. What Happened: OptinMonster automatically renewed my subscription WITHOUT my explicit authorization When I contacted them immediately for a full refund, they REFUSED to provide complete reimbursement Their customer service was unhelpful and dismissive of my legitimate concerns They seem to rely on these "accidental" renewals as a revenue strategy The Problems: Predatory Billing: Automatic renewals without clear, prominent notifications Poor Refund Policy: Refusing full refunds for unauthorized charges Unresponsive Support: Customer service that protects company interests over customer rights Lack of Transparency: Billing practices designed to trap customers Impact on My Business: As a healthcare professional managing multiple business operations, I need reliable partners, not companies that engage in questionable billing practices. This experience has wasted valuable time and resources that should be focused on patient care. Recommendation: There are many legitimate alternatives in the market (ConvertKit, Mailchimp, etc.) that respect their customers and have transparent billing practices. Save yourself the headache and choose a company that values ethics over predatory revenue tactics. To OptinMonster Management: Your billing practices damage your reputation and drive away serious business customers. Consider this review a professional feedback on why your current approach is unsustainable.

I want to sincerely apologize for the frustration and stress this has caused. I know that running a medical practice requires your full attention, and dealing with billing disputes is the last thing you want to be spending your valuable time on. I want to assure you that "trapping" customers is never our goal at OptinMonster. We generally use auto-renewal to ensure that our customers' live campaigns—and the leads they are collecting—don't suddenly shut down due to a missed invoice date. That said, we believe in fair billing practices. If you reached out immediately following the renewal, we typically have a refund policy in place to handle these exact situations. I looked into your case specifically, and I am happy to confirm that we did indeed issue a refund in full for that renewal charge. Sometimes there is a slight processing time between us sending the funds and your bank posting them, or perhaps there was a miscommunication in the support thread, but please rest assured that we have honored your request. We never want to keep your money if you aren't using the tool, and we certainly don't want you to feel "trapped." I hope this helps resolve the situation, and we wish you nothing but the best with your practice.

BEWARE!!!!! Autorenewal of your subscription is locked in to all accounts. The only way to NOT have autorenewal is to CANCEL your ongoing subscription. In my case I am on the annual subscription, last year 2024 I paid $260 which I thought was fair for the service. Today they charged me $860 on autorenewal, no alerts or anything to say the price would go up or I was about to be charged. I have reached out to support and will update if I get a response.

I completely understand how seeing a charge that is different from what you were expecting can be a shock, and I am sorry for the stress that caused! To clarify the price difference, the initial rate you paid was likely a special introductory discount for the first year, which renews at the standard rate. That said, we never want you to feel stuck or unheard. I checked in with our support team, and I am happy to report that they were able to get a refund processed for you quickly. Thank you for giving us the chance to make this right!

It's great if you don't care about specifics like performance or that settings are implemented correctly. This platform is glitchy and untrustworthy. Support is barely there to non-existent. I have Opt in Monster for the 12 brands I support in marketing. It's a mess. There is no enterprise data view. Data is dropped. Pop ups fire at the wrong time. Validation is impossible because caching apparently keeps old pop up setting live, even in incognito or when the browsing history is reset - suspicious. I haven't been able to access my reporting dashboard for over a week - their solve? Clear your cookies and close your browser from a different screen. It didn't work. No response after multiple attempts. Data and trust in the UX are paramount to me. Would not recommend.

Hi Sarah 👋 We're sorry to hear about the issues you've been facing with OptinMonster. We understand how important data and user experience are for your marketing efforts, and we appreciate your feedback. Our support team has been actively addressing your concerns and working on resolving the bugs you've encountered. We'd like to clarify a few points: - For enterprise data view, we offer integration with Google Analytics to provide advanced reporting capabilities. - Direct edits to your campaigns should not be affected by caching. When you are managing where campaigns can appear on your site through the WordPress plugin's Output Settings, caching on your own website can prevent those changes from being immediately reflected on the front-end. In that instance, it is important to manually clear your site's caching after modifying the Output Settings and when pausing existing or launching new campaigns. - We acknowledge the issue you faced with accessing the reporting dashboard, and our team worked diligently to fix it as soon as possible. Unfortunately, complex issues may appear to be "stagnant" even while our team is working hard to get a fix out quickly. We appreciate your feedback here so we can review how this can be better communicated to customers on a case-by-case basis moving ahead. We're committed to improving our platform and addressing your concerns. If you have any further issues or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We value your input and are dedicated to providing a better experience for our users.
