I would rate zero stars if I could. I’ve been paying this company for a several months now and when I google my name, I find my information is still plastered all over the internet. Very dissatisfied and not worth the money. Use a different company.

Nope
After removing myself from obvious search sites— while under Optery service—, I wondered why I had to do this myself. I accomplished this faster than Optery so I closed my account. Immediately my spam mail was full of emails I had never received before and I found myself AGAIN listed on sites I was supposedly deleted from. I still get Optery notifications regarding sites they supposedly removed me from.
I cannot help but wonder if they do this so I’ll renew with them.
Response from OpteryJul 14, 2025
We’re really sorry to hear about your experience, and we truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We understand how frustrating it must have felt to manually remove listings, still receive spam, and continue getting notifications even after cancellation. We also want to be absolutely clear: Optery does not leave listings up to drive renewals. That goes directly against our mission to help people regain control over their personal information online.
After reviewing your account, we saw that you were with us for 30 days, which means you were still within the early stages of the removal process.
To speak directly to your concern about the slow progress or needing to take action yourself: Optery’s process combines automation with real human privacy agents to ensure quality and manually handle complex cases. During the first 1–2 weeks, there’s a surge of opt-out activity happening behind the scenes. Some data brokers remove profiles quickly, but others, especially those with poor compliance, can take several weeks or even months to process requests.
Since most data brokers don’t notify us when a listing is taken down, our system continues scanning their sites in the background to confirm whether your data is still live. What you likely experienced was the normal waiting period that follows the initial batch of submissions. Some opt-outs are also scheduled for later rounds based on complexity or broker behavior. While many customers see over 50% of their profiles removed or hidden within 30 days, it typically takes ongoing effort over several months to see the full benefit. That’s why Optery is designed as a subscription-based service rather than a one-time fix.
Regarding the spam you mentioned — we understand how frustrating that is. While it’s very rare, a few customers have reported something similar. That said, we haven’t found any evidence that Optery causes this. Spammers gather contact info in a bunch of different ways: data breaches, buying lists, or just generating random emails and numbers. It could be a coincidence that it happened around the same time.
Importantly, Optery doesn’t share your real email or phone number with any data brokers. We use a private alias (like [email protected]) to keep your real info protected.

Bait and switch -
Bait and switch - Optery sells you a low-priced plan with a long list of major data brokers. But, shortly after you start using Optery, Optery moves some of the largest and most problematic broker sites to higher priced plans. You're forced to move to a more expensive plan, as much as 250% more expensive - to get the same coverage you had when you first signed up.
While Optery's three lowest-priced plans used to offer pretty good coverage, they're now padded with garbage sites like "Kentucky Arrests" while big data brokers like Intelius, Checkmate and FastPeopleSearch are now only in their most expensive plan.
Don't hope for customer service either. The chat function has a worthless AI and if it doesn't have the answer, it says you'll wait at least a day for a response.
I'd give Optery a hard pass.
Response from OpteryFeb 7, 2025
We apologize for any confusion or disappointment this may have caused and appreciate your feedback.
At Optery, we are committed to continuously improving and expanding our coverage, which sometimes involves adding or removing data brokers. Data brokers like Intelius, Checkmate, and FastPeopleSearch are particularly challenging to remove and require significant effort, which is why they are included in our highest-tier plan.
We understand that you were not notified of these changes, but as outlined in our Terms of Service (Section 6), our removal services may change over time without prior notice. - https://www.optery.com/terms-of-service/
Regarding arrest record sites, while they may have "arrest" in their name, they also display a variety of public records such as property and contact information, which is why they are included for comprehensive removal.
We have also reached out to you via email to further address your concern. We would appreciate your response and hope this provides clarification.

Operty is a total scam
Operty is a total scam
They only work with made up brokers, that they have a relationship with. They have you sign up for months and never actually remove anything.
Response from OpteryJul 15, 2024
Hi there! We're so sorry to hear that you are not happy with your experience. The list of data brokers we cover are on our website (https://www.optery.com/pricing/#data-brokers-we-cover). Optery does not have, and has never in the past had any financial relationship or affiliate partnership with any data broker. We also provide live before and after screenshots proving to you where we found and removed your profiles. We're reaching out to you so we can look into your account further! You are also welcome to message us at [email protected].

The login requirements are a joke
The login requirements are a joke. Every time it requests a backup code with I do not have. Even when using Google login. The multifactor authentication code never arrives via text or email. My email is correct because I changed my pw, but was still unable to log in. In almost 30 years in IT support I've never seen such a cluster. Why have MFA if you're not going to send a code? smh
Response from OpteryJun 10, 2024
Thank you for your feedback! We've reached out to you separately about the MFA code and how this is sent to you via an authenticator app (not through email/text). It looks like you were able to successfully set up MFA and it is working now for your account. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Doesn't work outside US but only tells you that after it's harvested your name and email address - pretty rubbish for a company that supposedly selling data security.
Response from OpteryApr 8, 2024
Hi Richard! We're sorry to hear about your frustration!
Before processing a registration, if you select any non-U.S. country, we do have a warning banner that pops up saying "Optery only works for U.S. residents at this time". This message shows up before you submit any information (name/email) and create an account with us.
If you are signing up as an individual or as a family for an Optery personal account, Optery still only works for U.S. residents at this time. However, you can still create an account, and we'll notify you when we begin supporting your country. Currently, Optery's international support is exclusively available to business customers and has not yet been extended to consumers, but is actively working on expanding this service.
Additionally, you are the sole owner of your Personal Data and can request disclosure or deletion at any time and we will delete this immediately!
We're here at [email protected] if we can assist with any further questions or concerns!
