Absolute scam artists. They cater to which ever dealer does more business. I sold a truck on here with a freshly rebuilt transmission with less than 100 miles on it. They made me buy it back saying it wouldn’t even move. I didn’t have the cash to buy it back so I had to struggle to floor a truck I didn’t even physically have. Got the truck back and sent a video to my rep driving it down the road. They didn’t care that I almost closed my business. Then the next year they sent reps begging for my business back and offered loads of perks and discounts, even flew in someone from corporate. When I finally agreed to sign back up, Tyler van suckle denied me access. Openlane is a terrible company. I dropped all Openlane owned products because of this. Autoniq and AFC included.

Run, don't walk...
I would give this company negative stars if it was possible. They call themselves a marketplace to avoid NAAA rules. Bought several vehicles and there were undisclosed issues with every one. Some they issued a small credit on after excessive complaining on my part. A wrangler I purchased was actually taken back and refunded after paying a franchise dealer to write a diagnosis for the undisclosed engine (3.6 tick) and transmission (wouldn't shift out of 1st) issues. I had to eat the diagnosis of course. Recently I purchased a CR 5.0 Ford and my mechanic wouldn't even put it on the lift because of the undercarriage rust. Another was an ecodiesel where the CR stated the cat was present only to discover it's fully deleted. Total credit between the two was $500. The platform is built to protect sellers, promote high prices for compromised cars and rip off small dealers who can't afford to hold vehicles or enter a drawn out legal battle. Steer clear unless you can inspect the vehicle yourself!

Extremely Disappointing Experience with…
Extremely Disappointing Experience with OPENLANE Canada
Over the last six months, I have lost approximately $18,000 on three vehicles purchased through OPENLANE Canada due to major problems that were not disclosed.
One of the most frustrating experiences was purchasing a vehicle that suffered a blown motor after only 350 km, despite having a PSI inspection done. I contacted OPENLANE looking for help, but received no meaningful assistance.
In another case, the seller described a vehicle as being in great condition and sold it as-is, only for me to face approximately $7,000 in repair costs. Again, OPENLANE offered no meaningful help.
What is most disappointing is the lack of support, accountability, and customer care. You contact them looking for a solution, get sent around in circles, and feel like nobody genuinely cares about resolving the problem.
From my perspective, it feels like collecting fees has become more important than supporting the dealers who use the platform. When customers suffer thousands of dollars in losses because of major vehicle problems, they deserve to have their concerns taken seriously and receive proper support.
I believe OPENLANE has become so big that it has forgotten the importance of customer service. Dealers are the people who keep this business running, yet when something goes seriously wrong, you feel like you are left completely on your own.
After losing approximately $18,000 on three vehicles in just six months, I am extremely disappointed with my experience. I sincerely hope a serious alternative platform becomes available in Canada, one that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and customer support.
Very poor service. Very little support. No sense of accountability. OPENLANE Canada needs to do better.

Stay away if you don’t want to lose money
I purchased with Open lane over the last year as they really started to grow. It has gone down hill as far as the quality of vehicles and FAST. Bottom line is the vehicles that have large issues end up on Openlane. There is no accountability on the selling dealer, in the event of an arbitration, openlane gives you an adjustment, they will give you an extremely low wholesale rate for labor and a used part then subtract a deductible from the total arbitration credit leaving you with a fraction of the repair cost. You cannot unwind a sale. I had 3 bad transmissions in 1 week and begged the company to unwind 1 of the sales because we are not equipped to do transmission after transmission at a small shop, No one wanted to even hear me out. I bought over 450 vehicles from Openlane and I was treated as a nobody. When I expressed my concerns to my rep, I never got a reply back. I decided enough is enough and I am no longer using the platform. The franchise dealers continue to dump their crap on this platform because they have no ratings, never have to buy back a car, and although the “inspectors” claim to test drive the cars, they never seem to find the mechanical issues that exist, And your stuck with the car every time. Stay away if you don’t want to drain your pockets . It’s hard enough for us smaller independents.

No Shows two times!!!
Made an appointment. Waited several hours. No one showed up. Called Openlane and was told inspector couldn’t make it. Rescheduled for a week later. Called that morning to confirm. I was told inspector was not working that week! Both times no one contacted me to tell me. I had car washed both times! I rearranged my schedule both times!!! Not a professional company!

Very disappointing experience with OPENLANE.
OPENLANE needs to take real responsibility for the vehicles sold through its platform, not just collect fees and leave dealers to deal with the problems.
I bought an Audi that passed a mechanical inspection, yet the engine failed after only 300 km, costing me approximately $8,000. I’m also dealing with a Subaru with multiple issues, including a non-functioning AC, while the arbitration department won’t even return my calls.
If OPENLANE charges for inspections and operates the auction platform, it should stand behind the accuracy of the vehicles being represented and have a fair, responsive arbitration process when something goes wrong.

Scam, Scam and More Scam
This company is a total scam. Lucid uses them to inspect their vehicles at the end of leases. The inspector literallyu doctored up pictures to make it look as though there were massive scratches on the car that DO NOT EXIST! And when I called them to speak to someone about their fraudulent report, they told me I had to take it up with the leasing company. The leasing company, however, just sends you back to OpenLane. I tried reaching the inspector, but of course, she refused to communicate also. They falsely report on the condition of the car and then refuse to give you the information you need to have repairs done before the car must be turned in. This company is clearly nothing more than a shill to create additional unearned revenue for the leasing company. Lucid is a horrible company to begin with. The fact that they have this company report fake damage on your vehicle is just the icing on the cake.

Nightmare
Made an appointment for a 2-hour window. Nobody showed up. When I called they said that, despite their confirmation and their sign in system, it is a 4-Hour window. I sat double parked in Manhattan for 4 hours and 15 minutes and nobody showed up or called. I rescheduled for a date 5 days before my lease termination. They promised a request for first appointment. I sat for 2 hours and never got a phone call. When I called the customer service they said their system had a glitch and my appointment had been canceled. Nobody had notified me. Now I am stuck either going to New Jersey to make another appointment with someone else or having my car lease extended.
