Fraud, deceit, and lies!
Fraud, deceit, and lies. In my experience, Openfair operates like a scam masquerading as a legitimate business. They took advantage of me when I was looking for help selling my business. I was contacted by a sales rep named John after he claimed to have seen my BizBuySell listing, even though that listing had been down for three months by the time Openfair contacted me. He said he had saved my information and then sold me on the abilities of Openfair’s “sales team.” I told him I was skeptical of companies like theirs, but he assured me they were different. He also made a false claim about how long the business had been operating. I paid for one month to give them a chance. After that, I was assigned to Kaitlyn as my so-called account manager. Our first conversation seemed fine, but that was the last good impression I had of this company. The first week was full of technical problems. Account setup, billing, profile access, and other basic functions did not work correctly. Their platform felt less like a real marketplace and more like a false front designed to create the appearance of legitimacy. The bigger problem was the complete lack of evidence that Openfair was doing what I paid for. I was sold on the idea that their team would actively sell my business to potential buyers. Instead, there appeared to be no real sales team. Kaitlyn admitted she alone was responsible for sales on my account. Communication was poor and usually limited to short replies or excuses. When I pressed for transparency, I received what felt like a pre-written excuse email. Openfair provided no metrics, no reports, no leads, and no evidence that anyone was actually working on my account. I complained and was promised weekly reports, but those never came. There was also mention of NDAs, even though I never wanted NDAs because this was a simple asset sale and requiring them made no sense for generating inquiries. I later discovered that Openfair is not located in the US as I was led to believe. Their listed business address appears to be a mail forwarding service. I have also read claims that Openfair operates from abroad and may have little or no real US presence. I would never have done business with them had I known this. In my opinion, their platform is all for show, their promises are misleading, and their service produced nothing of value. I had to file a fraud claim with my bank. UPDATE: After posting my review, Openfair challenged its validity in an apparent attempt to have it removed. I have proof that I was an Openfair customer, including an invoice and bank statement, and I am defending this review so other business owners can avoid going through the same experience. Stay away from Openfair and work with a legitimate agency or broker instead.
