No Phone Support and Major Word processing Flaw
I have been using OnSong for my sheet music and song charts since it was initially released. The software is not without its issues, however, I have made do manually correcting mistakes through trial and error. However, now that OnSong is all about making money, rather than actually addressing some major shortcomings, I can see it is time to write this review. There are two MAJOR FLAWS with OnSong; the first is that it cannot smoothly work with the number one word processor creating song sheets; and the second is that there is absolutely no telephone support for the product. OnSong expects you to waste hours, reformatting and fixing the chord placement over lyrics FOR EVERY SHEET you upload. They have article after article explaining how you can use the “conversion toolbar” and text “extraction tool” and “fix alignment spaces” button, and laboriously and tediously waste hours “fixing” the content created on Microsoft Word. In fact, they go so far as to make ridiculous statements like: “if you're editing your document in a word processor” you will have a problem. What do they think we are using, pen and paper? OnSong blames the non-compatibility of Word and IOS; I guess they haven’t noticed that a million other applications seem to have been able to bridge the gap, including website creators and email providers to name a couple. OnSongs “solution” is for you to do the work manually that their program can’t, and to do it for the hundreds of songs you import into OnSong. If this Major Flaw was not bad enough, there is absolutely NO PHONE SUPPORT at all. When they first started it was ok to do email, but now that they have gone to the money making model of monthly and yearly subscriptions, there is no excuse for not having a person you can speak to. So it’s more money for less services; I should waste hours reading articles about known problems and spend hours fixing the problems myself. Unfortunately, there is no serious competitor to OnSong, or I would just delete the program. There’s no one to talk to about this, because you can’t call them, So multi-media complaining seems to be the only way to go. As you will see from ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS on the Apple App Store, the new “Subscription” version is not ready for primetime, and the “support articles” were just updated because THE FORMATTING PROBLEM STILL HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. Oh wait, I forgot, OnSong believes it’s Not A Problem, so they are not doing anything about it but updating articles on how customers can waste hours fixing it themselves. You cannot just type a song sheet on a word processor and import it into OnSong and use it; you have to correct every song sheet you import; it's annoying and really unacceptable. Not Good
