After initial contact was made everything was carefully explained, all questions answered to my satisfaction and the process though very long (much longer than a "regular" mortgage) went smoothly. The only problem I had was caused by the time difference between the California Office and my home since it is in Indiana. I do work PT and have flexible hours so that was part of the problem. But I'd get a call from CA at 5 or 6 at night and it was because CA was 4 hours different. Of course I was not usually home so learned the game of phone tage.

At this point, the only issue we experienced was the appraisal issues. 1) The appraiser was two hours late. 2) He seemed to be irritated with the way his day was going. 3) He spent all of 10 min taking photos. 4) I advised his as to EXACTLY where the crawl space entry was and stated that he was unable to locate it and refused to do the inspection required. 5) I had to hire another contractor to complete the appraisal. 6) Jerry Jones was a wonderful person to deal with and went out of his way assist in getting questions answered and getting situations resolved.

Well organized team, friendly, efficient. Very capable personnel, with the exception of kowtowing to the annoying nitpicking of the HUD regulations

A big issue with our Reverse Mortgage was the planed interest for the life of the mortgage. We asked form the inception of the lone for a fixed rate and upon review of the closing documents found that we had signed for a variable rate. That almost caused us to resend the entire process. We are waiting to see the new offer on the reverse mortgage.

Generally fine experience but they seem to be too "big city" and unaccustomed to the way things happen in rural life, i.e. citing this as a flood plain when the closest flood was 10 miles away and a number of years ago. I realize this was probably taken from COE files and maybe they have problems accepting people's word about things but just another hurdle to pass. The people there have wonderful to work with when it involves only our interactions without relying on other agencies.

Originally dealt with James Michalski, he was outstanding. After it moved to a higher level, I was dealing with Detroit and California at the same time. Repetitive requests for items previously sent in was a bit of a hassle. perhaps if all data requested was under the same number for all divisions they could easily access the items. I had to involve my CPA in the process numerous times on the repetitive issues involving tax returns. But it's all over and I am totally satisfied.....
