They were charging for a permit driver and went unresponsive. I had to quickly pay for a new insurance and now I'm waiting for a refund. Would I use in the future, yes, but when I have more days prior to permit driver driving.

I hate an insurance company that’s closed on the weekends! That’s the first red flag. I filled a claim two weeks ago and haven’t heard from anyone handling my claim to this day. I saw good reviews when I signed up but I should have looked deeper. My bill, like many others, doubled right after the first payment. It’s more expensive now than the plan I switched over from. I would have never signed up. Terrible experience so far.

I was a Novo customer for six months and initially paid between $150–$180 per month based on my driving. After buying a new car in January 2026, my premium suddenly jumped to nearly $290 per month—even though I went from a supercharged turbo Volvo T6 to a Hyundai Elantra, which I expected would be less expensive to insure. Wanting to understand why, I spent an entire month (May 27–June 26) driving as carefully as possible. I even downloaded two independent driving apps to track my acceleration. Both gave me a perfect score of 100. Here’s what didn’t make sense: Novo also gave me a 100% driving score, yet my pricing score was only 90, which removed me from the top 10% of drivers and increased what I paid. When I called customer service, I was told that phone movement inside the vehicle is used as part of how acceleration is measured—not just the vehicle’s actual movement. In other words, where or how your phone moves in the car may affect your pricing. Before signing up, check your declarations page and divide the six-month premium by six so you know your actual monthly cost. Also, ask exactly how your driving is being scored and how that score translates into your premium. This was my experience, and I think consumers deserve more transparency about how pricing scores are calculated.

The app will randomly decide that you did a "rapid acceleration" or a "hard break" when you definitely didn't and then you are punished for it of course. And if you do find yourself in bumper to bumper traffic and you are forced to break a lot, it will decide that that is a "hard break". So you are punished for how others are driving around you. I figured I wouldn't have issues as I am a good driver but I have not even had this insurance for a full month and I wish I could get out of this insurance early but if I do I will be punished financially by this company.

IT couldn't fix the issue. I still can't use your app.
