A Special Surprise Turned Into a Disappointing Experience
My wife ordered a cake online from the West Lafayette Nothing Bundt Cakes as a surprise for my first day at a new job. She scheduled the delivery for a specific time and included a lovely personal note. Unfortunately, the cake was never delivered and was returned to the store. When my wife went to ask what happened, she was told that delivery was not their responsibility because they use a third-party service. However, we ordered and paid Nothing Bundt Cakes directly, including the delivery fee. From a customer’s perspective, the delivery service they choose is still part of the service they sell. My wife asked to speak with a manager but was told no manager was available. We returned again to resolve the issue, and once again there was no manager. When I said I wanted to wait and speak with one, the employee repeatedly insisted that we leave instead of helping us find a solution. I cannot comment on the quality of their cakes because, despite paying for one, we never got to try it. What I can say is that if you are planning a surprise or special occasion using scheduled delivery from this location, be cautious. A failed delivery can mean more than just missing a cake—the special moment itself may be lost. In our case, what should have been a happy surprise became a frustrating and unpleasant experience. Mistakes happen. What was most disappointing was the lack of responsibility and effort to make things right.
