I just got rid of my 2nd. attempt to grow mushrooms from North Spore. My 1st. attempt was with morel, did not fruit, instead it went to mold. This attempt was with their ShroomTek method, 2 bags, one with Lion's Mane, and one with Shiitake. both blocks went to mold. The Shiitake turned black, while the Lions Mane got big white puffs of mold. I was going to go with a 4th order, but no longer, I will not Spend $100.00 plus for a 4th. failure I will go with Booming Acres, or Midwest Grow Kits, or Redwood Mushrooms Supply, or Zombiemyco.

Satisfied with the products received. They tout a "make it right" return policy. Unfortunately, they have not responded to my emails regarding one contaminated product that I requested a refund.

The mushrooms came right away. I read up about how to plant them. I followed the instructions that they gave me and nothing ever came up. I contacted them and they gave me the runaround like they blamed me for the container or where I planted it or wherever, but they told me to plant it there and how to plant it So it's my fault that the mushrooms didn't come up because I followed their instructions Don't waste your money

I've done all mushroom growing prep myself so I was pretty excited to try the convenience of already sterilized and prepped materials. I decided the order a whole automated grow kit which came with one grain bag and two cvg bags. Everything was well packaged, but the grain bag was badly contaminated on arrival with no visible damage to the bag. The cvg bags appeared fine, but if one bag is contaminated then the potential for them all to be is much higher. Their customer service team is small so responses are pretty slow. I was informed they can only replace the items with visible contamination. If mold shows up in the cvg bags later, then they will replace. After agreeing to just take the loss on the cvg bags, I explained that cvg bags don't really contain the nutrients that would allow for mold to grow quickly enough for the time to be worth it, but they could still carry the spores. I was told it was probably fine, but I disagree. I really think it's not unreasonable to assume that if one bag is contaminated during transit, then all other bags closely packed could be contaminated as well. I've dealt with contamination enough in this hobby to not be willing to take that risk. Asking to replace the two cvg bags was a perfectly reasonable request. Their grow systems are really cool but If they had just replaced all three bags, they would have had a repeat customer and a better review.

Garbage, never use these people! Contaminated grain, bin was cracked, over priced.

I’d give it a zero if I could. Do Not buy, unless you don’t mind donating your money for a product that doesn’t work. Also there should be a warning that Morels won’t grow indoors in their Boomer Bin.

Purchased Blue Oyster spawn and grew in a couple of 5 gallon buckets using straw as the substrate. Production was not as great as I had expected. Purchased two bags of Winecap spawn for a 3x6 and 4x4 raised bed. In one I used wood chips and straw; in the other I used hardwood wood pellets and straw as substrates. It has been two years now and not a single mushroom.

My first experience with North Spore’s customer service was underwhelming. I had to reach out myself to check on my order, and when I did, I made a simple, reasonable ask — a few extra PTFE filter discs to make up for the wait. The response completely sidestepped that request and just gave me a tracking number. I get that technically the order was within their processing window. But acknowledging a customer’s frustration and making a small goodwill gesture costs almost nothing. The fact that they couldn’t be bothered doesn’t inspire confidence. Hoping the actual products are better than the support experience.
