"It's clear how much care, love, and intention went into creating something so special for her."
It's gratifying to encounter someone like Alison, a customer-service representative at Nations Photo Lab, who went out of her way to help me. Back in late November I ordered a photo book of old family pictures to share with my mother, who is nearly 106 years old and is in an assisted-living apartment near my home in Arizona. She was thrilled to see photos of her and her siblings and parents and my late father's family again. I used more than three dozen of them, including quite of few of my late brother and me as babies, children, young adults and parents. Mom has worsening problems with short-term memory, so it's extremely important to me to sit with her and discuss who we are looking at, where we lived and how we moved west in the 1950s. Unfortunately, a couple of weeks after I received this delightful book, it was accidentally badly damaged by water and I contacted Nations to see what they could do to help. I wasn't sure what to expect. I wound up telling Alison what this book means to me, and she quickly helped me get a new one ordered with a very nice discount, and in turn I promised to send her a picture of me and Mom with our treasured book. "Thank you for contacting Nations Photo Lab," she wrote. " Thank you so much for your honesty and for taking the time to share the story behind this photo book. I can only imagine how meaningful it is for you and your mother, and I'm truly sorry to hear about what happened." She even named the discount code JustForNeal, which I used today to reorder!
