Music X Ray is giving me the blues
I have tried to work with Music X Ray for at least 4 years. Concerning the music industry people that are presenting the opportunities for your submission, you need to research these people before sending to them. My experience is that about 90% of the 'industry people' on Music X Ray that I'm researching don't seem legit. But some actually are. None have been very helpful to me. They keep a distance from you and want you to pay each time you want to talk to them or seek advice. I have also been a member of Taxi a few times. Both of these services have been very disappointing, yet they have some serious potential for getting your music into the hands of the right people. I would be interested to know if there is in fact a site that isn't filled with bottom dwellers who have no business in the industry but are just trying to scam hopeful, optimistic people to make a buck. I think Taxi is as close as they come, but the odds of getting your music into a place that's going to make you some money are dismal on either Music X Ray or Taxi. Nevertheless, if you believe in yourself, you need to keep moving. Use this site to gain insight of what others think of your music. Taxi is pretty good with that too. The best place to shop your music is directly to music supervisors. Meeting these people at a party and going surfing or jogging with them has got to be 'the way' to land a deal, if your personality is gelling with theirs. Talking to these people should also help you understand what they are looking for, the people that are actually making a living in the industry that you need to be talking to. The big industry players advertising on music x ray don't usually respond back at all when I submit to them. I agree with the other rating that it's hard to get reviews on music industry people to show up so that the community could weed out the scammers and make Music X Ray a legitimate site. I think Music X Ray makes too much money on the scammers and that there aren't enough legitimate industry people for the site to make money solely on legitimate opportunities. It's a shame that the music industry is this way. It's always been a place like that, where the industry has taken advantage of artists, and hopeful agents that have no business experience are trying to help out hopeful musicians and getting them nowhere. That's the nature of it, and that's what you're bound to find here at Music X Ray. I'm not sure if it's the fault of Music X Ray itself, or if Music X Ray is just representing what's out there. I think that Taxi shields you from the scammers, but then politics come into play, and good luck getting by the gate keepers over there, unless, once again, you go party with them and become a friend. Not such a bad idea.
