I'm happy to have had a song selected although it's been a week and I still don't know who selected it or what,if anything, they are going to do with it. Is it normal to wait...I sent a thank you message immediately but there has been no reply so far. Other songs are processing or pending....delayed responses kill the excitement!

I have been with Music X-ray for a long time. My songs have been chosen with a catch. Once you get picked they send you to their own website where you have to pay more money to Spin the song or to be added to their library of B.S. I have worked with professional Publishing Companies you pay. $5 for them to listen they like they sign you, if not they do not! No asking for More money! How much money do we as artists have to pay to play !!!

I frequently get invitations from MusicXray to submit to an opportunity free of charge. But when I go to the site I am inevitably charged a fee for this "free" submission. It seems like a bait and switch.

After I submit, your site requires I go back and search again and try to find where I left off. This is terribly inconvenient. Upwork brings up a new tab to submit. I then delete that tab which brings be back to the Upwork job description page, This page has it's own back arrow which permits me to return the exact search point, so I can easily resume my search. You should do this.

It seems MIP s don't listen to our music unfortunately

You have to be very savvy, just remember if your track is chosen, you more than likely won't get any money due to the nature of song libraries. Some of the MIP's use this style of site as a legitimate way of generating extra income, you may get lucky but I feel a small percentage of the Mip's are pushing the boundaries of decency from my experience.
Response from Music XrayDec 4, 2020
Frankly, I think this is a fair review. This artist hits upon one of our biggest challenges at Music Xray. The music industry isn't quite the wild west, but it's a complex industry to understand. There are indeed some music libraries that use Music Xray to find new songs to add to their libraries and they, in turn, go out and pitch those songs to other opportunities (outside Music Xray) where they have a foot in the door. If your music is selected to be included in a music library, that doesn't typically come with any up-front money, and possibly will never earn any money if the library is unsuccessful in their pitches. We, at Music Xray, have struggled with how best to work with music libraries and we decided to be selective and only to work with ones we know to be reputable. To address the other point this artist makes, we work hard to police the site to ensure everyone is on their best behavior and industry professionals should not use Music Xray to take submissions only to then offer to "better-produce" your song for a fee (for example), or offer any other services for a fee. However, if that producer has taken your submission to consider it for an opportunity, or perhaps to offer a critique and they perform that service, and THEN offer a service-for-hire to you, well... we are aware that happens sometimes and we just try to keep an eye on it to insure it doesn't violate our terms of service or become such a common complaint about a specific professional that we have to take action. We have removed a lot of industry "professionals" for these types of violations and we will continue to do so as we are made aware of specific cases. We also deny accounts to countless "professionals" every week because we research every account and understand how they will use the site before we approve them. -Mike McCready CEO
