They could improve their software to actually recognise passports and documents required by various banks, when their customers wish to open a savings account. They have made something which used to be simple a nightmare

Utterly awful and incredibly frustrating identity document validation service for NatWest bank. It tells you to make sure the document photo is not blurry, not in shadow, not in glare, etc but gives you absolutely zero control of when it actually takes the photo; absolutely no option to review and accept/reject the photo before submitting it; absolutely no way to see the photo to see what the inevitable problem is to try and fix it; and when you inevitably submit so many photo attempts because they are all rejected, it suddenly tells you that you've run out of chances and shuts you down - despite there being absolutely no mention of a limit up to that point. Utterly, utterly, amazingly bad system! A child of 5 could design a better system. I'm amazed NatWest get any new customers at all!!!! My advice: Don't even bother...

Absolutely awful experience. Tried to open an account with Yorkshire BS and after 2 hours of frustration gave up . It even locked up my laptop. I am now putting my savings elsewhere.

Absolutely awful system, why on earth are companies using this bot service? Tried to verify ID after losing log in for Leeds Building Society ISA, constantly rejected perfectly good documents including driving licence, bank statements etc. was on the phone to LBS and they couldn't help me as service is automated via Mitek. No way to contact Mitek to discuss, so stuck in doom loop. This is terrible for the image of the company that is using Mitek. Useless!

I am trying to open an account with Natwest, but am unable to as I keep failing Mitek's ID check software. I have tried over 20 times now to scan my driving license, but it constantly says my photo is too blurry, even though it is not. I have tried under natural and artifical lighting, ensured no glare on the picture, I have tried on different colour backgrounds, I have cleaned my camera using isopropyl alcohol, I have tried using 2 phones (Galaxy S23 and Z Flip), I have tried starting the camera close to the document and moving away, and starting far from the document and moving inwards, and am steadying myself again the table edge to stop shaking. Every time, it captures a perfectly clear picture, yet NOTHING I do will allow Mitek to accept my ID. I do not have any other form of ID and am now giving up and opening an account with another bank. Natwest must be losing so may customers with this awful Mitek ID check.

It doesn't take yahoo or Gmail so what the hell. Just to change a phone number on Credit Karma. This is a JOKE 😃 😀 😄

This online identification platform used by number of banks in the UK is one of the worse ID check I came cross in recent years. Especially if your document and liveness selfie don't pass on the first attempt, you can say goodbye passing it, no matter how many times or good quality of photo/video you capture of your document or yourself as AI will keep rejecting it over and oven even if it says successful or processed on their status page. I had to submit an bank application 3 times each time either liveness check or ID was rejected for untrue reasons such as frame duplication, blur, low lighting and so on - in the end had to manual check with the bank directly which was much quicker and simple and no AI nonsense. Another issue is unlike other online identification platform, Mitek does not allow to retake a captured document or neither has preview of what is actually going to analysed by their AI image recognition system. Online identification platform should be simple and easy to use, instead this platform lacks of basic functionalities which make the user experience inefficient and the transparency on what their AI actually reviews as their auto capture & submission is just garbage and most of the time there is not enough time for a document to be in focus on the camera and there are a lot of false positive detection on blurs etc.

If there was an option for zero stars, Mitek would get it. Completely unable to use the Mitek link to verify facial ID etc to open a new savings account. Unhelpfully, there is no advice on the linked page, no guidance on how to get the camera to work with the Mitek software and no contact details to get help. Overall - Useless. 0/5
