As part of their return process
As part of their return process, customer service required photo evidence that the gas mask was still sealed. I opened the outer cardboard box only to photograph the mask in its original, unopened vacuum-sealed plastic. Otherwise, I would never have opened the box. They then denied my return because the cardboard box had been opened, the very step I took to provide the proof they required. I was within the return window, the item was eligible for return, and the gas mask’s plastic seal had never been broken. Using my compliance with their photo requirement as a reason to deny the return strikes me as unethical and misleading. This was terrible customer service and has left me viewing the company as untrustworthy. I would not recommend doing business with them. ***Update:*** Mira Safety’s response reinforces the contradiction at the center of my complaint. They acknowledge that opening the outer cardboard box was necessary to provide the photos required by their return process, yet they cite that same opened packaging as the reason they refused a refund. The gas mask remained in its original, unopened vacuum-sealed plastic. Their response does not explain why opening the outer cardboard box, while leaving that seal intact, creates a hygiene or safety concern, especially when they acknowledge it was necessary to follow their instructions. Acknowledging that a customer followed your instructions, then treating that compliance as the customer’s mistake, feels like gaslighting. Their response frames this as an unfortunate outcome under their policy without taking responsibility for the contradictory process that caused it. Offering store credit or a replacement does not resolve the issue. I requested a refund within the return window for an eligible, sealed item. Their response only reinforces my view that this was misleading and unfair.
Response from MIRA SafetyOct 16, 2026
Hi there, Thank you for your feedback. We understand why this was frustrating, and we’re sorry the outcome wasn’t what you expected. During return verification, we ask for photos so we can confirm the condition of the item and its packaging. We recognize that taking those photos meant opening the outer box, and we appreciate that you were trying to follow our process. Because gas masks are protective equipment, our policy requires the original packaging to be unopened for hygiene and safety reasons. Once the packaging has been opened, we’re unable to issue a refund, which is why we offered a replacement or store credit at the time. If you’d like to discuss this further, please contact us at [email protected] or call us at 888-316-1462 with your order number, and our team will review the details with you. Best regards, MIRA Safety Customer Support Team
