Save your money—overpriced rebranded parts and terrible lead times
I bought a basic black wheelset for my son’s Surron Light Bee during Black Friday 2025, and the whole experience was a headache from day one. Right off the bat, their website kept crashing at checkout, which was weird for a brand that claims to be a top-tier player in this space. The wait time was completely unacceptable. They promised delivery in 8 weeks max. Look, I’m a reasonable guy and I know holiday rush can push things to 9 or 10 weeks, but it took four full months to get these to my door. Because the delay was getting ridiculous, I ended up ordering an equivalent set straight from China just so my kid wouldn't be stuck waiting around all spring. When both boxes finally arrived, I put them side by side on the workbench. They were 100% identical. Same hubs, same rims, same hardware. Milk Racing talks a big game about hand-built quality, but it's just standard overseas inventory marked up for Western buyers. My son couldn't tell the difference, and neither could I. That’s when the buyer’s remorse really hit. After nearly a year of riding and testing both sets hard, the direct-from-China pair actually held up better. The Milk Racing wheels developed loose and bent spokes under normal trail riding, while the cheaper set stayed true. Add in the fact that Milk Racing has virtually no return policy once you buy, and you get stuck paying import duties that direct overseas vendors usually cover for you. There’s simply zero reason to buy from Milk Racing. You are paying a huge premium for the exact same hardware you can source yourself, only to wait a third of a year for worse spoke durability. Skip the middleman and save your hard-earned cash.

Spokes settling and loosening during the first few rides is a completely normal physical process for any spoked wheel—especially when components are powder-coated. As the nipples and spokes seat themselves under load, checking and tightening the spokes after the break-in period is essential. We always add spoke wrench and if this initial maintenance isn't done, the wheel loses its structural tension, which directly leads to bent or loose spokes. Because our wheels are custom-made to order with specific color and size configurations, we do not offer standard returns on custom builds. However, every set of our wheels comes with a full warranty, and we have never refused to help a customer when an issue arose from our end. Furthermore, even if a wheel suffers damage from normal wear and tear, heavy riding, or a crash, we always support our riders—frequently offering steep discounts on replacement parts or new orders.
