Stealing from their customers
Crap customer service, defective low quality product : not the company they used to be. Merrell refused to honor the purchase price of my defective boots. They were the 2nd pair of such boots I had ever bought as I was so happy with the 1st pair. I live in central Canada where temperatures reach -40゚C and was very happy with how my $230 boots performed so bought a second pair. They ended up being defective coming apart all across the bottom seam within one season of purchase. Merrell agreed to honor my claim by allowing me to choose a new product. I waited until the fall of that year for their winter boot line. As they did not have any styles to my liking, I chose a different product that had a much lower retail value, and asked them to make up the price difference by also sending me a second item of the approximate price difference value , to which they refused. They said it was a product for product exchange . I replied that I am not in the habit of donating my hard earned money to multi million dollar corporations, and they have now lost what was once a loyal customer. On a side note I had given away my original boots to a family of modest means in Mongolia whom I happen to visit one winter.
