The information and understanding that I received from this group at the Mediation Center, I will take with me on future career goals. I thought at the time, it was so much information, that I wasn't sure I would be able to go back and retain it all, but with the great group and involvment that we had with one another, I really think that made a huge difference in my understanding of the process. Just had a great experience and would be very interested in pursuing more opportunities that the Mediation Center has to offer. Thank you again!

I am happy with this mediation training! I learned a lot of family law as well as how to help parties come to agreements on different aspects of divorce such as custody, parenting time, and spousal support. I've taken two trainings with Mediation Center and they really care about your opinions.

I'm so glad I took this course! The content was comprehensive, practical, and thoughtfully structured, providing a strong foundation in mediation principles, techniques, and best practices. The instructors were knowledgeable, engaging, and effective at connecting the concepts to real-world mediation scenarios. One of the highlights was the practice simulations, each with their own coach present. These simulations had unique fact patterns and information unknown to the "mediator" which provided valuable hands-on experience and an opportunity to apply the skills learned in a supportive environment. These exercises helped build confidence and reinforced the lessons we were learning throughout. The level of engagement throughout the course was excellent. The interactive format encouraged participation, discussion, and learning from both the instructors and fellow participants (who all came from a wide-variety of professional backgrounds which enhanced the experience). Rather than simply presenting information, the course created an environment where participants could actively develop and refine their skills. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in becoming a mediator or strengthening their conflict resolution skills. It was an outstanding learning experience that provided practical tools and the confidence to move forward in mediation practice. A big thanks to Tobin and the instructor/coaching team!

The most outstanding part of my course was the care, candor, generosity, and thoughtfulness that the instructors and coaches brought to it. It was clear throughout that they cared deeply not only about the profession of mediation, but also about helping each participant develop the skills and confidence to practice it well. The exercises were challenging in exactly the right way. They gave us opportunities to practice skills in real time, receive thoughtful feedback, improve quickly, and understand how what we were doing connected to the larger principles of mediation. The amount of material covered was substantial, but it was exceptionally well chosen and presented—it felt practical and accessible rather than overly academic or abstract. The supplemental materials were equally strong: insightful, interesting, and, most importantly, genuinely relevant to the actual practice of mediation. I came away feeling that the course had been designed around what mediators will actually need to know and do. One benefit I had not anticipated was the sense of community the course created. The instructors and coaches clearly care about developing future mediators and about building a strong community around the practice. That combination of rigorous training, generosity, and genuine investment in the people taking the course made this an exceptional experience.

I took the 30 Hour General Civil Mediation Skills Training through the Mediation Center in February 2026 and had a fantastic experience. The trainers are very knowledgeable and walked through concepts in ways that were easy to understand, often providing real life examples to further illustrate the lessons. I particularly liked building on skills as we went through the course, using role play scenarios to practice the new skills we were learning. I learned important conflict management skills that I will use in my professional and personal life. I highly recommend this course for anyone looking to learn positive and productive ways to facilitate conflict resolution.

I had started this answer with the review of trainers and coaches. I cut and pasted below. I appreciated the guidance prior to class. Yet, I must say I do not always do upfront classwork, I wait to hear expectations of the class. I think a statement of emphasis that prior to start of class work in required to help the class move smoothly would be helpful. Especially within the Zoom setting. The access to ongoing reference materials is a plus; and the online connection to the Mediation Center Learning Center is remarkable. During class the open conversation and constructive feedback was significant. My personal opinion is, the role plays are essential to this learning experience. Yet, personally, I miss the in-person communication readings that are omitted (somewhat) in virtual meetings. Personally speaking, I would return for continued education opportunities with the Mediation Center.

My training experience with the Mediation Center was nothing short of extraordinary. The program was powerful, thoughtfully designed, and led by truly wise and incredibly skilled trainers. Susan, in particular, was phenomenal—her insight, presence, and ability to guide meaningful learning made a remarkable impact. What stood out most was how intentionally the trainers created a safe, welcoming environment. It was a space where we were encouraged to make mistakes, learn from one another, and openly receive feedback without fear or judgment. That kind of atmosphere doesn’t happen by accident—it’s the product of talented individuals who deeply understand people, conflict, and growth. I walked away feeling more confident, more capable, and genuinely inspired. The Mediation Center’s team is exceptional, and I’m grateful to have learned from them. I would highly recommend this training to anyone looking to strengthen their mediation skills or deepen their understanding of conflict resolution.

I highly recommend Mediation Center's 30 hour Civil Mediation Training course!  The course was offered virtually which initially made me hesitate.  However, I found it convenient and the facilitators did such a great job, it was easy to stay engaged the entire time.  The course offers a valuable mix of instruction--via various teachers, practitioners and materials--and role-play experience.  A wealth of information was shared, and I learned a lot.  I also appreciated Mediation Center's responsiveness throughout the training and interest in supporting people post-training.  A great-value training--thank you!
