WARNING about Findlaw - now repeatedly overcharging a 17-year customer…
My firm have been a Findlaw customer for 17 years. In recent weeks, I came to a renewal agreement for a $1,192.00 monthly change for my website.
The very next month, Findlaw charged my firm:
09/08 FINDLAW 310-622-9191 CA 1,341.48
09/19 FINDLAW 93.87
09/25 FINDLAW 1,881.48
10/24 FINDLAW 1,255.50
In other words, during one 46-day period Findlaw charged my firm $4,572.33 -- a more than 3.5-times multiple to what I had agreed.
I first contacted Findlaw on October 4, 2026, about the first of the overcharges, $93.87. Then on October 16, 2026, I pointed out to Findlaw its $1,881.48 overcharge on the heels fo the $93.87.
Findlaw's Luis P. has given me the run-around at every turn, and cannot seem to formulate any coherent reason why Findlaw has so badly gouged this long-time customer.
If you are in need of some website firm to maintain your firm's website, save yourself some headache and do not waste your time with Findlaw and its apparent inability to hold-off gouging its customers, and then refusing to issue a refund when requested.

I was a customer with Findlaw for 8 years or more
I was a customer with Findlaw for several years, so I hope I speak with some authority on this. I know of no lawyers who use this company anymore, unfortunately. When they were part of Thomson West they were a legitimately-run company that was not money hungry nor engaged in shady business practices. For instance, when I spent 1/4 f what I was recently spending with Findlaw, I made more money and I had far fewer reviews online. Basically, Findlaw was acquired by Internet Brands ("IB"). IB has a monopoly on the legal advertising market in the USA: Avvo, Nolo, Martindale-Hubbell, etc. After IB acquires a company like Findlaw they gut out the experienced account execs and replace them with money-hungry ones who play all sorts of games with the clients. I complained to BOB BRISCO, the CEO of IB and was fired. Ironically, the same thing happened before the pandemic when I complained to the previous CEO after they destroyed nolo.com. I was very proactive in trying to resolve my growing balance owed and Findlaw blew it off and delivered fraudulent reports from "Insight" justifying they abysmal service. Instead of re-allocating my monthly budget which was substantial they purposely ran up the undelivered services then demanded payment in-full or else they would not re-allocate so I could pay off my balance faster. How does doing that then firing me help get the bill paid off at all? ALL FINDLAW CARES ABOUT IS MONEY. NOT THE CLIENT.

It's a blackmail website
It's a blackmail website. Once people leave negative review about a law firm, they would email the law firm and possibly ask for money to take it down.
Whoever left negative review can't change or take it down.

I hired FindLaw to handle FaceBook…
I hired FindLaw to handle FaceBook marketing for my law firm. After 11 months, the results were abysmal to say the least. I checked my FaceBook account and found that FindLaw had done ZERO marketing for the last 2 months. I will never use FindLaw again and can never recommend them to anyone.

A Cautionary Tale– Do Not Waste Your Money with FindLaw
A Cautionary Tale – Do Not Waste Your Money with FindLaw
If I could give FindLaw zero stars, I would. Our experience since May 2024 has been nothing short of infuriating, unprofessional, and exploitative.
We signed up with the hope that FindLaw would support our firm’s growth through quality leads and marketing support. Instead, we received zero legitimate leads—only spam and scam contacts—and absolutely no return on investment.
After several months of poor performance, we requested to cancel or adjust our subscription. In September 2024, we were told in writing that our account would be paused while the issue was being addressed. But despite that, we continued to receive monthly invoices and late fee charges. The only communication we received was from accounts receivable trying to collect payment—on charges that should have been paused.
We received no explanation or follow-up from our assigned rep, and when we tried to escalate the issue, we learned—through silence—that our original rep had left. No one from FindLaw notified us of the change or introduced a new rep. We were left entirely in the dark.
Even worse, we’ve sent multiple emails requesting to schedule a call to resolve this, and none have been answered. Yet, we continue to receive persistent phone calls from accounts receivable, despite repeatedly explaining that we were told invoices would be paused until the matter was resolved. The lack of communication and professionalism is absolutely staggering.
We even had our account independently reviewed, and the findings confirmed what we already knew: FindLaw provided no value, no ROI, and only frustration.
If I were advising another law firm, I would say this plainly: FindLaw preys on law firms. They don't deliver on what they advertise, they deliver nothing of substance, and then ignore your efforts to resolve the matter.
This experience has been deeply disappointing, grossly mismanaged, and frankly, disgusting. We are requesting that this contract be canceled, and we strongly urge other firms to look elsewhere.
