I chose MDLive for the convenience and accessibility of online therapy, but my experience has been very disappointing.
I had two separate therapy appointments that were either canceled or not attended as scheduled. As a therapy client, I set aside time, plan my day around appointments, and come prepared to discuss personal matters. Repeated disruptions like this make it difficult to build trust and maintain continuity of care.
I understand that emergencies happen, but when missed appointments become a pattern, it feels unprofessional and disrespectful of a patient’s time. I hope MDLive takes reliability and accountability more seriously when it comes to mental health services.
Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not recommend MDLive or provider Catherine L. Kendrick for therapy.

Greedy & Unhelpful
It is very obvious that providers do not care about patients at all, or to them (customers). Providers have had gaps in basic medical knowledge as well. Customer service has been very unhelpful when I have called. Matter of fact, I was supposed to receive a call back from a "supervisor" 5 months ago, never did.
2 Separate Incidents:
1) The reason for my appointment was a provider is required to order lab test order for a specific diagnosis, and despite having provided this information to the pre appointment form this, I was not informed that an MDLive urgent care provider could not order lab tests until AFTER I was charged. I found this weird because urgent care centers can ALWAYS order lab tests. Reached out to customer service but to no avail for 5 months. Anyway, decided to give them another chance
2) Provider genuinely could have been on a beach, there was so much background noise made it hard to hear them. I informed the provider of test results & still they prescribed me medication for something I tested negative for reasoning that it could have been a false negative. I was advised by my actual PCP and healthcare team to NOT take the medication since I did not have a confirmed diagnosis for the illness and it could bring more harm than good.
Lesson learned. Always go in person to trusted & competent healthcare professionals. MDLive does not care.

Save Time, Skip MDLive, Go See PCP or Urgent Care
This was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had with a doctor. I've been having ear pain in my right ear after a bad bout of seasonal allergies. This hasn't happened to me before, so I wanted to see if maybe it was an ear infection that needed antibiotics or if it would likely go away on its own. When it was time for my appointment, the doctor simply logged in for about 2 minutes, told me it's "probably" not an infection, and recommended that I go get it checked out with an urgent care. I live in a rural area where we don't have access to an urgent care, and I was only trying MDLive because my PCP is on vacation this week. So, for any perspective patients, I'd advise skipping MDLive and just paying the co-pay to go to an urgent care or your PCP. I feel like I just wasted an hour of my life and my ear still hurts.

I am writing to provide feedback…
I am writing to provide feedback regarding a recent telehealth encounter that I believe reflects a significant gap in clinical judgment and patient care.
I sought a telehealth consultation after developing acute throat pain that began on Thursday and progressively worsened. The pain initially localized to the right side of my upper throat and quickly became diffuse and severe, making swallowing extremely difficult. By Saturday, I was experiencing significant pain requiring frequent doses of ibuprofen, along with a low-grade fever. I also reported a known exposure to a confirmed case of streptococcal pharyngitis.
Despite clearly communicating these symptoms and risk factors, I was advised that adults have a near zero likelihood of contracting strep throat due to immunity, and that treatment was not urgent. I was told I would need confirmatory testing before any antibiotics could be prescribed.
Following this encounter, my symptoms continued to worsen. I attempted to obtain care through my primary wellness center without success and ultimately sought treatment at an urgent care facility. A rapid strep test confirmed the diagnosis, and I was prescribed antibiotics. Within hours of starting treatment, my symptoms improved dramatically, and by later that same day, my throat pain was largely resolved.
This outcome highlights a missed opportunity for earlier intervention that could have significantly reduced my pain and functional impairment. While I understand the importance of antimicrobial stewardship, the clinical picture I presented—acute onset, severe odynophagia, fever, and known exposure—should have warranted stronger consideration for empiric treatment or, at minimum, more nuanced guidance.
Additionally, I later became aware of a similar case within my household, where another telehealth provider prescribed treatment promptly based on comparable symptoms and exposure history. This inconsistency raises concerns about variability in clinical decision-making across providers.
My intent in sharing this feedback is not simply to express frustration, but to encourage improvement in telehealth assessment protocols. Patients rely on these services for timely care, especially when symptoms are severe and access to in-person evaluation is limited. Greater attention to clinical context, risk factors, and patient-reported severity could help prevent unnecessary suffering and delays in treatment.
I hope this experience can be used as a training opportunity to improve diagnostic reasoning and patient-centered care in future encounters.

I had a very disappointing experience with MDLive. I completed their online consultation form, submitted the requested information, and uploaded photos of my throat. I reported a severe sore throat and ear pain, but I was told I likely had a cold. I was also advised to use a nasal spray even though I did not report nasal symptoms, and my ear pain was not meaningfully addressed.
Two days later, after my symptoms worsened, I went to a CVS MinuteClinic. I tested positive for Strep A and was told I had fluid in my ears that was becoming infected.
I paid a copay for MDLive, but the assessment was incorrect and I had to pay for a second visit to get the diagnosis and treatment I needed. Instead of saving time or money, this delayed my care and left me in pain longer than necessary. I will not use MDLive again.

I am requesting an immediate refund for my daughter’s appointment with Dr. Joshua Michael McConkey on 6/1/2026.
My daughter is 2 years old. The consultation summary specifically instructs us to use Robitussin DM and notes that “the dextromethorphan will help with cough.” OTC cough and cold medications containing dextromethorphan are heavily advised AGAINST for children under age 4. I am extremely concerned that this recommendation was provided for a 2-year-old child.
In addition, the visit was scheduled for ear pain, yet the evaluation and treatment recommendations focused primarily on an upper respiratory infection. I do not feel my concerns were appropriately addressed during the encounter as I never mentioned any type of concern over a current respiratory infection. I said she had a congested nose over a week ago which has cleared up & she now has ear pain.
I am requesting both a refund and a review of this visit by your clinical quality and patient safety team. Please provide written confirmation that this complaint has been received and is being investigated.

Total waste of time and money!
Total waste of time and money!
RUN AWAY for this money suck of a service.
I wanted to get a glucose monitor, they are good for 15 days, then you have to apply another. Well guess what MDLives solution was. Make an appointment every 15 days……and pay the $89 fee of course and we’ll get you another monitor.
Stupidly at its finest.
Oh and get ready to give them your name and DOB 14 times because there systems and their staff have to verify it every time you speak to someone, even if you’re transferred to another person during the same call.
Just go see a real person, this service is stupid!

I paid $65 for them to send a prescription that barely lasted 2 weeks, with no refills. Treatment for this issue should be 6 to 8 weeks. They wanted another $65 for a refill.
