After spending nearly $5,000 for their complete package, including marketing, they hit me with a bill for an additional $22,500 for "Marketing". If you value your wallet, run do not walk away from these "publishers" who are more interested in subtrafuge than being your partner in your project.

Ann Espersen, thank you for sharing your concerns. We take feedback regarding pricing, communication, and the services provided very seriously, and we always aim to maintain transparency throughout every project. After reviewing the concerns raised in your review, we would like to clarify that the services included in a publishing package and any additional marketing services are based on the agreed scope of work. Additional services, when requested or required beyond the original package, are handled separately and should be discussed with the client before moving forward. We understand that seeing an additional $22,500 marketing proposal or charge can understandably raise questions. We would be happy to review the complete project history, including the original package, invoices, and communication regarding the marketing services, to clarify what was included and what was discussed separately. We respect your feedback and would welcome the opportunity to address your concerns directly and work toward a clear resolution. Sincerely, McGilligan Publishing

First, I was assigned a fabulous project manager, Sarah Collins. We laid out the steps we would follow; and then executed them. They provided an excellent cover, and a very exciting author website. What I particularly appreciate was their flexibility and willingness to work suggestions. The book I wrote was much longer than I initially intended. The 6 x 9 format had to be slightly altered to reduce the book thickness. Sarah and her team completed that action very quickly and efficiently. Indeed, whenever I needed a change or just information, their response was well thought-out, detailed and quickly provided.

I paid McGilligan Publishing $2,500 to publish my debut novel and expected professional editing, formatting, and support. What I got instead was sloppy editing, multiple missed deadlines, and a final file full of formatting errors—uneven spacing, poor paragraph structure, misplaced italics. Their first editor had to be replaced mid-project. They gave me a file that wouldn’t upload to Amazon, blamed Amazon, then blamed me. After they finally fixed the file, I uploaded it myself. At one point, they even asked for my Amazon login—something that violates Amazon’s Terms of Service. Their final version made it clear they didn’t do a proper proofread or quality check. Now they refuse to honor their own money-back guarantee, even though they failed to deliver a professional product. I’ve filed a complaint with the BBB and want to warn other indie authors: avoid this company. They talk a good game, but when it comes to quality and accountability, they fall short.

I used Mcgilligan Publishing and had jacob.murphy of mcgilligan publishing as my agent, he took over my project and published it with mistakes. He lied about what he was going to do and resized my book with my approve. All of the phone number changed after I complained. I later found out they are not in the BBB listing.

Cassius Ali, thank you for raising this concern. We strive for customer satisfaction and ensure that every project leaves a positive impression on the client. After thoroughly investigating your project, we identified a few issues that led you to believe McGilligan Publishing or our representative, Jacob Murphy, made mistakes, although the best of us can make mistakes; however, in this case, the fault was with the files provided from your end. Since the files were not master files but low-resolution JPGs, it was nearly impossible for us to resize them according to the accepted formats of Amazon, B&N, and other major platforms. When we attempted to retrieve the master files from you, we were told, “This is all I have, do what you can.” After many iterations and requests from you, we were able to format the illustrations. We completed our work in accordance with the agreement despite encountering dead-ends, and with the guidance and direction given by your project manager, Jacob Murphy, we were finally able to publish your book. Lastly, regarding your remark about not being listened to on BBB, that’s a personal preference. We have garnered reviews across different platforms, so determining the legitimacy based on a single platform doesn’t seem justified. We wish you the best in your future endeavors. Despite your review, we are still here to help. Sincerely McGilligan Publishing

If you think books are only limited to writing them, well, you are wrong! There is a lot of technicality that is required to complete a book.
