I am thoroughly enjoying Bruce's easygoing and often humorous light-hearted teaching style of a somewhat sensitive subject! Marital conflict is such a one-sided affair. One person's right and the other is wrong depending upon who is telling the story! 'But' Bruce brings that belief crashing down by explaining what is actually occurring, and how to respond effectively. I am doing the course on my own and already experiencing huge improvements in our marital interactions. I now am understanding both my own, and his behaviours better. What is behind them and how to respond to them in a far more proactive manner. I can understand and accept his outbursts. I am able to empathise and welcome them as a release of his pent up emotions. I respond differently to the defence, retaliation, or retreat of the past. I was a firm believer that it took two to work on a marriage, but now I see that by me learning Bruce's strategies, a different response is being displayed. In my opinion this information should be incorporated into the school curriculum. Parts of it could be introduced early in a child's development and expanded upon through high school years. Imagine if mankind were taught how to handle him/herself and also how to handle others the same way we were taught maths... Imagine entering relationships, and marriage, understanding what is behind conflicts, and how to successfully negate emotional outbursts. This was money well spent already, and I'm only half way through the course. Bruce and his team have sent follow-up messages which have been well timed, and have made me feel personally interacted with which is very unexpected and much appreciated.
