Have a 2 year old Liftmaster 8450 5R garage door opener. One of the two lights stopped working. Only one year warranty on the light. You have to replace the whole module for over $200.00 (just the part) which is about 25 % of the cost of the whole opener. Ridiculous that it went so soon and the price of the replacement. To make matters worse when I went to buy the part on the USA site it would not let me post a Canadian address. Customer service also could not figure out how to allow me to buy the part. Total fail on all accounts regarding Liftmaster.

My LiftMaster myQ app fails to control my garage door while I’m inside my own house on home Wi-Fi, and is unreliable when arriving home. Commands often fail while pulling into the driveway. Also, it works inconsistently, hangs on commands. Further, notifications are inconsistent—sometimes accurate, sometimes delayed, sometimes wrong. This defeats the purpose of a smart garage opener.

Product has really started going downhill the last 5 years. Many call backs to rarely be the correct detective part without any compensation as a small company. Customer Service is equally bad with minimal solutions to resolving issues. One guy seemed half asleep in the conversation. Recently had a brand new 6690L be defective out of the box with a non working light. Nice that I have to replace it being an hour away. Choosing a new product from now on.

Ordered a new button for my opener on the phone. They gave me a discount, and it was shipped via UPS "Mail Innovations". This means that UPS ships it the first part of the trip, and then it's handed over to the USPS, who holds up delivery indefinitely. In this case, an item shipped the majority of the way in 2 days, and has purportedly sat in Orlando, FL, for 9 days. I finally got ahold of the customer service people for Liftmaster, and was told I could drive to Orlando to pick it up. Rightttt, I'm going to drive 80 miles because they can't deliver it properly? The gal on the phone spoke broken English. She did not know how to help. Expecting me to drive across the state to pick up my package, because they wouldn't send it direct via UPS. Update: They finally sent me a new button, and it works great. But their customer service department still need an overhaul.

My garage opener was physically installed and was otherwise working as it is supposed to. Then came the easy and quick part whereby on would expect to find no quirks or difficulties whatsoever with today's state of technology. Turned out that the easy part did drag on and after several attempts the opener simply failed to connect to my wlan. I work with system, network and software; and among other things I am certified network system engineer, so I guess I have at least the basic and obvious possible quandaries covered. Due to the difficulties in connecting the opener to my wifi network, I had no choice but to contact chamberlain support. Provided them the myQ number, and explained the situation: basically, during the initial setup process the opener connects to my smartphone ok via a direct wifi connection to the smartphone, then I provide the wifi password of my wlan through the app on the phone and after about 5 or 10 minutes it show on the screen that it cannot connect. Tried several times to no avail (same outcome). After a length exchange the chamberlain agent, the agent indicated that the opener would not connect to my opener simply because my wlan use a proper and safe password (password constituted of letter and symbols), and then requested that I should change the password/passphrase of my entire wlan because of their faulty device's firmware. Seriously?! This is the most absurd request from any support I have ever heard. I really need a solution for this problem, because it took lots of time and resources to install this garage door opener. Note: Liftmaster is a Chamberlain brand. They are the same company.
