Based on the other reviews already posted about Long Haul Moving and Storage (“LHMS”), this moving broker seemingly thrives on employing the classic fraudulent business practice of “bait and switch,” as clearly shown below. The bait and switch involves: (i) at the front end, a major underestimate of cubic footage ("cf.") to get a customer's business, followed by (ii) at the back end, a massive upcharge by the carrier. On or about 11 December 2023, I spoke with Russell at LHMS about my upcoming move from Georgia to Florida, during which call I provided a very precise inventory of the 32 or so items I was moving. Russell then sent to me a “Binding Estimate” (what an oxymoron!) that estimated my inventory to require 364 cf., or 2548 lbs., which resulted in a “Total Estimate Price” of $2498. On 2 January 2024, I spoke with someone in LHMS's “Customer Support” (yet another oxymoron!) to finalize my inventory and was told that all was good to go with no change in cf. On 4 January, upon a late arrival, LMHS’s moving company, Colony Moving Services, Inc. out of North Carolina (“Colony”), immediately told me that LHMS's Binding Estimate cf. was way off -- even before seeing all of my property or comparing it to the agreed-upon inventory. Colony ended up charging me an additional 236 cf., (an additional 64.8%!), resulting in an additional cost of $1180 (an increase of 47.2%!) – without any explanation re deviations from my specific inventory agreed with LHMS. Before I allowed Colony to load any of my property, I complained about this highway robbery to the LHMS Customer Support rep. (Bruce), and he threatened me that if I were to send Colony away, I would NOT get back the $1181 deposit I had foolishly paid LHMS. This was a clear breach of the so-called Binding Estimate, which stated that I would be charged an additional amount only for new items added to my inventory or new cf. added to my inventory. Also, LMHS’s cf. gross underestimate was plain and simple fraud. Final note: Colony was the ABSOLUTE WORST, MOST UNPROFESSIONAL moving company I have used in multiple moves over the past four decades.

STEER CLEAR OF THIS BUSINESS! WARNING.  The people manning the phones will draw you in with a bogus estimate that seems reasonable for a 1 bdrm move $1500 or so and then TRIPLE to a total of $5388 + by the time you're done. This REALLY Happened to us. Filed a BBB Complaint registered with the West Palm Beach BBB and Raleigh NC. Long Haul Moving and Storage are predatory middlemen who are nice as peaches on the phone yet appear to be preying upon the public and changing dates last minute; completely corrupt of any decency or honesty.   They  hired U.S. Professional Movers out of North Carolina as contractor who then tried to get another $4,000 dollars from us on move date!  He went to the phone and came back and still asked for another $800. After 3 inventory phone calls with Long Haul Moving and Storage and documented items!   Tried to decline move but had already put down a $2,000 non refundable deposit!   The guy hired a stoner with a bad leg who smoked pot the whole time he was supposed to be working.  He also refused to take the documented inventory so I had to pay for mailing and then take the glass pieces and remainder of items myself to new location! Truck had a patched hole in the roof.   Driver was very rude and tried to intimidate my family into paying more than agreed with the Long Haul Moving and Storage. Complete RIP OFF ARTISTS. DO NOT USE.

If I could give a 0 star I would they took my stuff on 12/29/23 I have yet to receive my stuff they quoted me 3k on the day of the move they charged me double so after paying 6 k I am still waiting on my stuff .

Booked a move with long haul,when moving truck showed up it was from to the moon services.the me n did not speak English,they didn’t wrap anything.upon delivery my adjustable bed,mattress was dirty and torn.the headboard to my bed marred and the endboard and side rails are lost.no one will help and I’m being ignored.

Not sure where to start with The Move From Hell because they were AWFUL on SO many levels. They grossly underestimated my cubic footage at 360 cf. Then when their terrible moving company, Colony Moving Services showed up, the cubic footage (for the same inventory vetted by Long Haul) skyrocketed to 600 cf, resulting in an additional $1000 charge (40%)! When I called Bruce of Long Haul to step in, he threatened to keep my deposit if I sent Colony Moving away unless I then paid a penalty for Long Haul to send a different moving company. He wasn’t the only jerk I had to deal with at Long Haul. The worst employee was this truly nasty, unprofessional woman, Sam, in their “customer support” department — what an oxymoron. Colony Moving then made a mess of my move, damaging my property (including a brand new sofa still in its original packing) and both my old home and new home. Stay away from these jerks unless you want The Move From Hell, like mine!!

This company lies to make you believe that they are the movers. I was shipping 2 pianos between NY and PA. Russell told me they were professional piano movers and they disassemble the piano, wrap it, ship it and reassemble at new location. They brokered it out a crew that had only moved spinet pianos and not baby grands. Significant damage to the baby grand. When I called for compensation they said here is the insurance number and when I pressed for further remediation for being lied to, for the driver trying to escalate the price by $1,127.17 for more cuft than was originally estimate. I had to physically show the driver, using a tape measure that it was only 195 cuft and not 600 cuft. Bruce from Long Haul simply said "your piano got delivered, didn't it". They are unprofessional, rude and belligerent. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Complete scam of a company. Their sales associate Sandi convinced me to cancel my uhual reservation because it was “too expensive” and then I was charged DOUBLE what she quoted me on pick up day. She told me 3-5 days and I am on day 15 still waiting for my things in a new city in an empty apartment. Also was not transparent with me about the truck moving my actual belongings would have OTHER PEOPLE’s stuff in there too and multiple delivered would be made before they even get to mine. Do not waste your time with these people. No common sense or courtesy whatsoever

First off never use a broker! That was our fault and we get that. BUT LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES. We booked through this shady company(didn't know at the time)2 months in advanced. Were quoted one priced. The movers showed up at 430PM the day of the move and then told us we were going to be paying double the price estimate. Since we were backed into a corner and had to be moved out that day we had to pay the double price. SHADY SHADY SHADY BUSINESS. You were warned
