This plugin is horrible: with each update, the developers change their .css structure, with “!important” everywhere, which completely breaks the design.
Even worse: features that used to work very well no longer work (such as simply opening/closing an accordion for the course summary). The new JS code no longer works.
I contacted support about these problems, and was told: “yes, there is a problem, developers are actively working on the issue, but at this time, there's still no estimated timeline for resolution.”
Guys, just put back the JS code from before the update!
It's been more than two months since I sent the message to support about this problem. I'm still waiting. In the meantime, users can't view the course details from the presentation page.
I'm so sick of having to spend hours correcting their incompetence with every update.
Run away from this plugin.

Not recommending them as they have…
Not recommending them as they have terrible customer service. Tried the cloud version unable to get it to work properly (specific video files) multiple tries with support. In the end decided to go with another by provider. Also no refund even if they can’t deliver what is promised.

Hi Marco,
Thank you for your feedback. I’m really sorry to hear that your experience wasn’t what you expected. We appreciate the time you spent working with our support team, and I understand how frustrating the upload limitations must have been.
While we did our best to troubleshoot and provide alternatives, I understand that these constraints may not have aligned with your expectations. Your feedback is valuable, and we’ll use it to improve how we communicate platform capabilities.
I appreciate you giving LearnDash Cloud a try, and I wish you the best with your courses! If there’s anything else we can do, please let us know.

Terrible tech support
I am having trouble adding new users to the platform and turned to LearnDash for support. The experience has been terrible. Everything is done via email and the response time is incredibly slow. If I had known they only communicate via email, we would have picked a different platform to build our learning academy on. This is Day #4 that I have been asking for help.
Response from LearnDashFeb 12, 2025
Hi Lissow,
I totally understand how frustrating it can be when you’re trying to get new users added and things aren’t going as smoothly as you’d like. You're building something important, and I get that waiting on support can feel like a major roadblock.
Just so you know, our normal office hours are 4 AM - 4 PM (EST), Monday through Friday (excluding US holidays), and we’re committed to responding as quickly as possible during those hours.
If you have any more details to share—like specific error messages or steps that lead to the issue—that would really help us speed things along. Rest assured, we’re on it and ready to help get this resolved.
Looking forward to helping you get your academy up and running smoothly!

KeepImproving
ok for very simple use cases and businesses that do not want to grow
For basic uses, LearnDash is quite a good plugin. You can create your courses easily, add quizzes and the design is appealing.
The troubles begin, once you want to build a proper learning management system (be it public or within a company) with clean unenrollment processes, data analysis or ongoing (subscription) products.
For a proper learning management system, we expect it to provide out of the box:
• exact dates of when a user enrolled and when a course expired for a user
• past data, even when a user unenrolled or a course expired
• ability for users to retake a course a second/third… time, still have the first round data for comparison (see separate clean first/second/third round data)
These things are (currently) not possible with LearnDash (unless you pay a programmer and develop something on your own).
1.) Unenrollment process: users are unenrolled after the expiry date ONLY IF they log-in into their account, the admin manually visits their backend page or the admin manually removes them from the course settings page.
There is no option in the ProPanel, where you can differentiate between users that are “enrolled and expired” and actually “enrolled and have access”. This way an admin could at least clean up the data from time to time….
AND the date of the expiry, that you will see once a user is unenrolled is not the course expiry date you set in the course, but the date of the manual action. So if you do one of the actions a year from the expiry date, the data will show the date of expiry a year from the course expiry. This way the data becomes useless.
2.) Data overview: Quality of data put aside, there is no overview of data of users that have already taken a course and are unenrolled. If you updated a course and want to check if users are performing better, or if the close rate went up, you cannot run a comparison to previous participants. The past data is there (kind off, see next point) in the backend within each of the specific user accounts, but only available on a single user basis. You cannot pull a report.
3.) retaking courses: for each user, there is only one instance of a course allowed. You can delete the course data from the user’s account, once it expired, but then you will not have any data for future reference (not even a start date), not even at a single user level. Or you leave the data, but when the user is enrolled in the new course, the dates at the user level for expiry show the past expiry data. Yes, a user shows as being expired in the past even when enrolled and active anew….. Confusing? … yes, totally.
Given the way this works, you can assume that there is quite some useless data even in your current reports (i.e. expired users that did not visit their course after expiry will show as in progress, active users with new course will show as expired....).
I am not the only (and probably not the first) one who brought this to LD’s attention. There are other people in the LD facebook group that actually stated they had to develop own code months ago (after contacting LD), to get around these problems.
What does LD say about these problems:
Support: “At this time, unenrollment after course expiration functions the way it is intended”.
No answer in facebook group: I have also posted this in the Facebook group directly to “the Senior Director of Customer Experience at StellarWP”, during a different topic, after he told me, to give LD a new chance. They were just acquired and promised to improve on the support. That was October 12th. 6 weeks later, still no answers.
No answer during/after online meeting: I gave them another chance and joined the online study hall about ProPanel on October 14th, where I also asked a different person the same question. They were showing the new ProPanel, but if the data is not treated in a proper way, you still get useless data as output. I was promised an answer latest two days after the meeting. No answer after 6 weeks.
In summary, if you want a very simple setup, always delete all the user data after the course, do not want subscription or clean data analysis, this is a good tool for you. Everyone else, look somewhere else.
EDIT 10.12.2024: Deducted a star for the following behavior: Publicly LD replays fast and the below reply states how I should get in touch and LD wants to help. So I did write a day later one more time. I used the LD ticketing system and addressed it directly to Amanda. About a week later, I got a mail to rate their support on ... what? .. I have never received a reply. Now two weeks later, still no reply. I really dislike companies that act great publicly, but do not act on their word when the actions are not visible.
EDIT: 19.12.2024 still no reply

First of all, I appreciate your candid feedback and effort you’ve put into sharing your experience with LearnDash, as well as the areas you’d like to see improved.

I absolutely understand that advanced needs—such as automated unenrollment processes, detailed historical data tracking, and enhanced reporting—are critical pieces for you. Here’s how we’re addressing these areas:
Unenrollment and Expiration Logic: We’re actively reviewing improvements to automate expiration handling and prevent data discrepancies, ensuring more accurate reporting and a smoother admin experience.
Data and Reporting Enhancements: Making it easier to access historical data and compare performance metrics is a priority for future development, informed by feedback like yours.
Retake Options and Data Retention: We hear you here - this is a popular feature request and we're monitoring feedback from users like yourself here: https://app.loopedin.io/learndash?idea=667988d5335614002e71960c

Support is -1
I’ve had an incredibly frustrating experience with their support. Responses are excessively slow—sometimes taking up to a week—and the solutions fail to address the issues effectively. It gives the impression that they lack the ability or willingness to resolve problems properly. If I weren’t so committed to their system, I would have switched providers by now!
This is my second review, and I’ll continue to share my feedback until they make meaningful improvements. I cannot recommend working with them unless they address their support delays and overall service quality.

Hi Omar,
We reviewed your interactions with team and have seen clear ways we could have supported you better. Your ticket is still ongoing and we're going to continue to help as much as we can. Our hands are a little bit tied because the issue seems to originate in a 3rd party plugin that we do not have control over. Nevertheless, please look for our continued replies. We're here for your success with online learning.

Horrible customer services
Horrible customer services that both cause further problems and take forever to get back to you. Learndash cloud has probably the worst customer services I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. Not only did their own staff seem to cause several poblems with the site, it takes an age to get a reply. The support seems to come from Nexcess who then ask you to get back in touch with Nexcess but when you do they can't help as we are with Learndash cloud. It's a mess. Have only been with them for a project for about 10 days an I would recommend to avoid.

Hi Jeanette, I'm Amanda, Director of Customer Success with LearnDash. I understand how challenging it is when you're facing delays and it feels like support is not on the same page.
I want a smooth experience for you with LearnDash Cloud, and I want to take this opportunity to ensure we streamline everything for you going forward. I will personally oversee your ticket to make sure your issues are resolved quickly and without needing to go back and forth between teams (LearnDash Support is the only team you should need to interface with!).
To make things easier, I’d love to set up a call with you to discuss your specific needs and get this sorted out efficiently. I've sent you an email and I hope to see you on my calendar soon. I know we'll get this sorted!

Disappointing and Outdated LMS - Not Worth the Investment
I had high expectations for LearnDash LMS, but sadly, it feels like a relic of the 20th century. Despite being marketed as a leading solution, it’s severely lacking in modern features that are now standard in the industry. Here are just a few of the glaring issues:
Outdated Interface: LearnDash relies on Gutenberg as its editor, which is clunky and unintuitive for course creation. There’s no dedicated graphical user interface (GUI) to streamline the process or make it user-friendly.
No SCORM Support: Shockingly, LearnDash doesn’t support SCORM out of the box, which is a basic requirement for any LMS today. Without this, integrating with industry-standard content is a nightmare.
No Own Dashboard: It doesn’t even have its own proper dashboard. You’re left piecing together elements from WordPress, which feels disjointed and unprofessional.
Overall, LearnDash feels like an outdated plugin slapped onto WordPress rather than a fully functional LMS. It’s far from worth the investment, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a modern, efficient learning management system. There are far better alternatives out there that provide true value for your money.

Hi There,
Amanda here, Director of Customer Success at LearnDash. I've reviewed your tickets and I understand that having a seamless SCORM integration is crucial. LearnDash offers this through trusted third-party tools like GrassBlade, which allows for robust SCORM tracking and content integration.
Many of our users have found this solution to be effective for their SCORM-based courses. This helps LearnDash focus on what we do best: providing a powerful, flexible LMS for course creation and learner management, while trusted plugins like GrassBlade handle advanced SCORM integration.
We’re continuously improving LearnDash, and your feedback on the course builder and backend experience is heard (and is on our roadmap!). We’ve just released a new report experience, and a new transactional and course builder experience is next.
We’d be happy to discuss how to set up SCORM content should you choose to give LearnDash a try in the future. Most of all, I hope you find a tool that aligns best with your goals.
