The founder, seer, revelator and prophet Joseph Smith has a questionable image. Treasure digging, spiritual seeing golden plates in the wood, translation of the golden plates with the aid of a seer stone in a hat, the highest authority of the restored Kingdom of God on earth, polygamy, child marriage, causing of social turmoil in those days. If you are rejecting all the aforementioned and looking for the correctness of decency, you are on the right address to become a member of the Church. As far as I'm concerned the finances and the cash flow of the Church has not a Christian attitude. In my country and city, money doesn't reach the members that are in financial need. The intentions of decency correctness is the only reason I give them 2 stars.

My parents raised me to believe in the LDS teachings from birth, and I was a member for 30 years. Although there are many positives about membership in this church (all of which are similar to many religions), it relies heavily on members ignorance of church history in order for people to join the church, and to commit to it. It discourages critical thought and learning about it's past. It is dishonest to it's membership with financial dealings (it was recently fines $5m US by the SEC for attempting to hide $32 billion in investments in shell companies, without offering an apology to it's betrayed membership). It is greedy - with all its wealth (both by the church and it's investment arm which it has full control of), it's charitable giving outside of the church is a tiny fraction of it's capacity. It breaks up family and friend relationships - the church lifestyle works quite well for a family, until one of the members of the family decides to disassociate with the church. My experience here hasn't been too unpleasant relative to others experiences of being shunned, but my relationship with all of my family has suffered as a result of me leaving the church or trying to share my experience of leaving. The church creates a culture of independance on the church and its teachings, damaging self-esteem and self-worth. I have found greater happiness, self-worth and inner strength by not being a member of this church.
