I've only been with Laurel Road for a few months, but I am very thankful to LR for refinancing my exponential student loan debt. After months of trying to refinance my loans, I found Laurel Road. The application for refinancing was very easy and it was approved in record time, allowing me to get a hold on my loan situation that had been dragging me down for months. AND I received one of the best interest rates with Laurel Road, making my long-term more affordable. Working with this bank has been easier than any other institution - everything runs very smoothly on their interface and it's easy to get in contact with representatives if needed. I am thankful for finding Laurel Road.

I was able to get a preview of my payments and the timeline prior to signing anything, which was great.

Online application process was excellent. Approval was quick and interest rate saves me literally thousands of dollars a year over what I was paying before. My only issue was trying to get the overpayment from my previous lender (automatically sent to Laurel Road) applied as part of a month's normal payment instead of just being applied to principal. It got worked out but it took a bit.

I had applied for a consolidation loans through other providers and never really got the sense that they even looked at my financial situation, I do believe Mohela/Laurel Road did take an honest look. After getting approved, my autopay and overall experience has been very positive. I’m not sure there is much they can do to help me more, I have sort of “set it and forget” when it comes to this loan payment. I believe the rate could have been a bit better, but honesty there are so many factors that go into that decision that when it came down to it, it was better than having them with the original loan company.

Customer service was wonderful, however; I was disappointed about the transfer of loans from Nelnet. Nelnet claims this company sent a check to the wrong address within their company, so even though they cashed the check in one part of the company, every time I would follow up they said they hadn’t received the check from Laurel Road, then DRB. I would then call DRB and they would explain they sent the check and it cleared. This went on for about a month until I was almost in tears. The money finally got in the right place, but what a terrible experience. I also had to pay interest to BOTH companies for the same money. This could have been avoided had the check been sent to the right adddress. Although most of my grievance is with Nelnet, I was put in the middle of dealing with an issue that I should not have had to deal with and I feel robbed of the interest I had to pay double for!
