KnownhostReviews of knownhost.com

This is a scam site. They closed my account without any notice, even though there were still unpaid funds in it. Everyone should stay away to avoid losing money unnecessarily.

**they are attempting to cancel this negative review by asking for more information, not allowing me to supply it, then closing it after too many days** A website with too much on it. Other reviews point out a missing detail or spec, that is buried, or hidden away. a better 'specs' page would solve all this they are clearly outsourced, the entire lot. the sales guy (paul), while I am sure I cannot speak his language, he could not speak mine, thus leading to constant misunderstanding of my questions support is totally unreachable by phone, you have to open a case on line, through their portal, and maybe they call back or reply, if they call you need to be at your phone. most will say 'cell phone' and call it a day - i need help now, not later, not waiting by the phone for a call, maybe no phone support, you have to open a case online

Awful customer service. Thinks everyone is fraud. They say too many flags yet i have 800+ credit score. I gave my driver license and credit card screenshot showing it was paid. They reversed the payment, deleted my account, and never replied again. Horrible customer service. I called them and no call back. Stay far away. Something wrong with them in Florida. my update 4/9/2026 - I had another host take the time and kindness to verify me and all went well. Fraud is high apparently so merchants are applying low thresholds so they don't get dropped and higher discount rates. Having taking credit cards 20 years ago i remember i was able to set settings about what will pass or not but obviously the stakes are higher now. Oddly the credit cards are happy to do a simple check and let it go through. Ultimately I ended up at a VPS and used my Paypal with the same credit card and zero issues once again. It's understandable that red flags come up these days, but how you handled it is abhorrent and immature. You chose to be emotionally reactive and not return emails or a phone call. Hearing my voice you choose not to call me or you simply don't answer calls or listen to messages since it went straight to message? Your reply says exactly who is running the company and it is not anyone with any maturity level that i would want to do business with. I am quite sure I am who I am. This was not a mistake, this is poor behaviour from young engineers. If you think a criminal would post a review, then you are lacking more than I thought. Hopefully some adults find their way in charge over there. I hope people see the truth here as they try to hide behind "mistakes happen" and we still think you are not real. By the way, delete my credit card and driver license photo I sent you. thanks!

I placed a simple $3 dollar order with them, expecting a smooth setup like I’ve had with other hosting providers. Instead, my order was flagged for review, and they demanded a scan of my ID and a copy of part of my debit card. This was completely unnecessary, considering I provided accurate information and have used multiple shared hosting providers without having this issue. They also insinuated that I might be using their service for something against their "Acceptable Usage Policy". If you want to be accused of doing something illegal just because their fraud detection system got it wrong, go for it. No reputable hosting provider should treat paying customers like potential criminals over a $3 shared hosting plan. I immediately requested a refund. I refuse to do business with a company that treats its customers like criminals.

I’ve had nothing but issues with KnownHost since they transitioned from Host-Asset to their current name. My experience has been a complete nightmare, and I strongly advise anyone considering them to stay away. 1 -Terrible Customer Support Their support team is incredibly unhelpful. Whenever I reached out for help, I was met with dismissive responses and no real solutions. It’s clear they care more about their bottom line than actually helping their customers. 2 -Deceptive Pricing Practices When they transitioned from Host-Asset to KnownHost, they suddenly increased the renewal prices without any prior warning. What was once a fixed, reasonable price became an absurdly high renewal fee. This felt like a classic bait-and-switch, 3 -Unjust Account Suspension The final straw was when they suspended my account without any valid reason. They claimed I was sending spam emails, which was completely false. Upon investigating, I found that an injected file in my root directory—where I had nothing but a blank index file—was to blame. Instead of giving me time to fix the issue, they shut down my account in less than 12 hours! Not only that, but they attempted to close down my other domains, despite them being on separate invoices. This was outrageous and totally unacceptable. 4- Blame-Shifting and No Accountability They refused to take responsibility for the issue, trying to pin the blame on me, despite the fact that the problem originated from a security vulnerability on their end. This lack of professionalism and accountability is simply unacceptable from a hosting provider. Because of this, I’ve decided to move all six of my domains to a new hosting service. I wouldn’t recommend KnownHost to anyone. They’re untrustworthy, unprofessional, and only seem interested in taking advantage of their customers. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for hosting!

I've been using Knownhost since 2014. Our invoice for the next billing cycle (yearly) is several days overdue. I'd like to continue using their server, only downgrade to a lower pricing tier. To my surprise, the salesperson Deborah gave me an answer with a condescending tone. That I need to pay the invoice first, before they consider moving us to a lower tier. Obviously they're unwilling to help. Stay away from this horrible hosting company. Terrible service and rude people running the company.

Bad support

Not only did the server malfunction constantly when we asked to cancel it within the 30-day period they said they were going to refund the money but instead of refunding the money they decided they wanted to put out an outstanding pass to invoice saying we owed them money so now I have to file a dispute with the bank because they're billing department didn't want to do what it said it was going to do.
